22 y/o Bailey Krawczyk from Alexandria, Virginia said her strict religious christian upbringing made her so SCARED of SEX she developed a condition called vaginismus which causes her vagina to CLOSE UP and cause severe pain during penetration!!

The videographer said she sensed something different at 13 when she couldn't use tampons but thought her body was still underdeveloped

But in 2020 when she was 21, she sought medical advice after still being unable to insert tampons without feeling pain and that's when she was diagnosed with that condition that only affects 17% of women.

The condition forces the vaginal muscle to tighten up when confronted with penetration causing searing pain during sex

Fortunately it can be cured but was shocked to learn her devout christian upbringing combined with myths about sex for women led to this condition.

She said her parents taught her that sex with sin from a young age lead to an unconscious fear of penetration and that she would bleed which caused mental stress

But she's determined to cure this condition after being with her long term partner, 22 y/o Josiah who supports her all the way

She gets hundreds of messages of support from other women who have this condition and even MEN who have gfs that suffer this condition

It wasn't until last year when she had to reevaluate why she couldn't use a tampon that she had to get this cured

She learned from a religious school that sex was going to be painful and that overwhelming fear was with her since then

Bailey said her since going to a pelvic therapist she's getting better at dealing with this condition but it'll be a marathon to be completely cured and hopes one day she can make love to Josiah without ever feeling pain again

This viewpoint isn't Christian-related. It's from a puritanical viewpoint that's, frankly, gone insane.

Turns out she just wasn't sexually attracted to her husband. She married her best friend and couldn't learn to love him in a sexual way. Now she's married to the dude she cheated with and they have a growing, happy family.

Her ex ended up finding another woman and they were happy together last I heard, so it's not a completely terrible story. I did feel bad for him for a while though because he was definitely hurt in the situation

my finacee has vaginismus. it is something she has been actively working on for months to make better for herself/us

I am not sure what is the truth. I remember reading/hearing something about how early Christians were often embarrassed to show their kids to one another in the early communities because it implied they had sex. I do remember reading that Solomon had multiple wives, but apparently that was against Gods will and there was even a warning that Solomon shouldnt have done that because they would turn him to worship other gods.

So it's nothing todo with her religion. She just developed a condition. Although I would say the biggest condition she has is anxiety issues. Chances are with those dealt with she would be more relaxed and thus this condition would be eased. Also yeah she's hot.

So it's the parents brainwashing her that's at fault. She can still follow her religion and fix these issues. As I said she needs to work on her anxiety issues the most.

Brainwashing her with their religion, yes.

Nobody's saying that being a Christian invariably leads to vaginismus, but it is nonetheless a risk when this sort of fundamentalist, sex-negative approach is taken to Christianity.

If she's following the religion as her parents taught it, not really, since part of that includes believing that it is immoral for sex to be enjoyable at all. Obviously, she's already moved past believing that if she's looking to sleep with her boyfriend, so there really isn't any question of her continuing to follow it.

Vaginismus is commonly psychological. It can be due to infections or previous physical trauma as well. This is coming from someone with a medical degree but you could have easily googled it yourself if you had an open mind.

You disagree that being raised to believe that God will hate you if you enjoy sex can result in a subconscious anxiety response that causes the vaginal muscles to involuntarily contract whenever something tries to penetrate them? Because that sounds completely consistent with everything I know about psychology, so if you disagree, you're going to need to present a much stronger argument than "I don't like when people blame religion for stuff."

It's quite well documented, as you'd know if you actually did research on the subject instead of jumping straight to "I don't like when people blame religion for stuff so I'm not going to believe this." You should perhaps consider doing actual research before opening your mouth like that.

Depends on the Christians in question. There are absolutely some groups that teach that non-procreative sex is evil, and that even procreative sex is an unfortunate but necessary sin to maintain humanity. In some philosophies, that's where the concept of "original sin" comes from: You were produced by sin and must therefore spend your whole life atoning for it.

Of course, this is not true of all Christians, but that's really a given whenever we talk about extremists of any religion, as much as certain individuals lose their minds and start desperately denying any association the moment anything bad is attributed to Christianity.
