buying the tome weapon should be something you do pretty early because of how hugely impactful weapon damage as a stat is, far more so than any substats. the only reason you might not want to is if you're confident you can and want to farm the ex trail without it but i think assuming everyone even wants to do ex trials is lol

The ex trial is real easy.

It also spits out double the weapons of past expansions.

It's easier if everyone has the tome weapon!

Literally everything you can buy with tomes right now is filler that will be discarded in a week and they aren't capped so the only reason to skip it would be to gear alts.

Also I don't know about you but on aether everyone seemed to be gating the EX party finders to 565+ as well. Given that, weapon is still very efficient.

No, just off the top of my head you will get owned during the sword phase where one person has to do a QTE while the others do mechanics and adds

Yeah I did a run as ilevel 568 Paladin last night and from a damage standpoint it seemed totally doable, but the invuln didn't work against failing to break the sword.

Yeah there will probably be mats to buy. Not a bad idea even if you don't plan on crafting, just to sell those for a quick buck.

never forget gc turn ins, you can get to 90 in like a month or two from 15 with em

a lot of the time i just level my crafters by buying whichever gc turn ins are relatively cheap on the marketboard each day

lol I decided I should probably catch up on my crafting job quests since I usually just did lazy leves/GC turn ins/beast tribes etc to level them so I'm behind on a good bit of them (only one I've finished is Alc).

True enough I'm somewhere between level 50 and 60 for most of them... and then I saw Blacksmith and Armorer. I've apparently never done a single job quest for them. I just unlocked them and that's it.

lol... you'd think I'd have remembered to do those...

The 65 (iirc) quests have a super important crafting skill, so do that on all of your crafters at least

Did the Naadam. Now THAT was quite a fun time, though it was definitely hectic. Quick nock master class.

Up to the 67 quests in Stormblood (making preparations to storm Doma Castle), and though there have been some slower points, it's been decent so far! HW is still my favourite of the 3 at this time. Currently waiting in a queue of 1,225 to get back in, but I hope to beat SB in the next few days, and then I have some time off until January 7th, so maaaaybe get to ShB by then? That's the goal at least!

Also, I'll continue to spoiler text stuff, even though 95% of people in this topic are way past me, just in case there's anyone behind me that is reading.

They all still give decent exp and the mats are free, so finish up through the stormblood questlines.

The crystarium delivery quests didn't seem cost efficient so i skipped those.

Doma Castle was a damn fun time.

I assume Gosetsu is still alive, though I think Yotsuyu isn't.

Yeah Doma Castle is a pretty great dungeon

Best one in Stormblood, though I admit the music is the main reason.

doma castle is probably still the most iconic levelling dungeon to this day

which is on the healer+tank combo but mostly the healer (unless the tank is a war, in which case they absolutely live thru the aoe lol)

doma in particular punishes people who only rely on gearing to get them thru mechanics (because doma castle gear is above augmented shire gear ilvl)

Living is almost entirely on the tank. Typically not realizing their surecast equivalent is also a slow.

That iron giant hits really hard; pulling it with anything else is quite painful

I'm not following you.
There is usually only one pull before bosses anyway.

It's just bad tanks pulling the iron giant to the ramp with the soldiers, where they're constantly getting shot by AoEs. Instead of pulling them all the way to the gunship before the boss.

Like, even if you want to split that section into two pulls, it's better to do iron giant solo, then pull the soldiers to the gunship. But no. People love pulling the giant to the soldiers, and then doing gunship solo.

I don't think I ever put together that the gunship was doing the aoes from afar. I'll keep that in mind for when I tank that place again.

Fought Lakshmi just now.

Was quite fun actually, though there were a lotta things flying around the battlefield. Definitely didn't use the special power thing in time, and died to her "let me love you" attack, and also got bodied off the stage later. That music is also a good time!

I love the atmosphere of the Lakshmi fight. The Ananta deserve more screentime imo.

I've whooped Sephirot's Extreme ass 15 times in the last hour and a half and that bitch still won't drop the bird.

The Laksmi fight theme is still fantastic. Also possibly my favourite trial memory since it came right down to it.
