I mean $20 is a much more reasonable price than $60 for online play, quality of the implementation aside. (That's a sore point for Nintendo's users to say the least.) It's just that $30 more a year for just these extras seems very not reasonable unless, again, it pays for itself through ACNH.

Yeah it's integrated in a way (in AC) that it doesn't make sense to totally lose access to it, but it also seems like too good of a deal from Nintendo if there ends up being a bunch of DLC expansions included and you get to keep them all when you stop playing.

Perhaps you can keep it with your existing save files, but lose it in new files?

"However, it will not be possible to visit the archipelago if players lose access to the DLC. To be able to visit the archipelago and take on requests of designing vacation homes again, you will need to purchase the DLC separately or renew the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership."

Most people just go for the year for these types of things, since you save money that way. It's never worth it to go monthly unless you plan to cancel very quickly.

it's enough to warrant a $30 yearly increase based on the market. if it's too expensive don't get it, but I'm sick of people trying to be all like "oh typical greedy nintendo"

it's a business, it's designed to make money. this is the video game market.

I'm not even at all upset by this, as I was expecting it. And I could easily afford it if I wanted it, which I might for a year or so. But it's also totally justifiable to say that this pricing is ridiculous when their online infrastructure is so bad. I actually respect Nintendo keeping their first party games high in price to maintain their value; this is something else entirely, and I don't really see a way to justify it other than actually fixing their online infrastructure.

Nah, capitalism is the way out of this. If the service doesnt sell at its current excessive price, Nintendo can sell it for a discount. They dont keep non-sellers at full price like they do their hits.

Its a cheap price to decorate fake cute animal houses for dozens of hours. I dont even get whats happening.
