Truly insane video game storyline (in a good way), one I didn't think a fighting game was capable of. The final stretch is a bit rough, especially allowing Sindel to kill off a bunch of important characters in a matter of seconds. Just felt super rushed and unearned for a character no one truly cares about.

I echo much of Leon's sentiments here. When I think of fighting game stories I think of a bunch disparate non-sequiturs as every character gets their own thin plots will little cross-over continuity between them, and while they can certainly be fun and wacky, it's hardly good storytelling. MK9 really upped the ante with fantastic cinematic, production values and I quite like that it doesn't just go straight reboot and discards everything before it. It's a story that truly leans into MK's rich lore and embraces the wackiness that comes with it while still taking it seriously.

I rate it "Dammit, Raiden"/10.

It's amazing for a fighting game, but universally that makes it more like a 7. I might have gone lower, but after seeing where it's landed with everyone else, I have to admit that I did enjoy playing the story mode...in fact, I basically only played the story mode.

glad to know that other people liked this game's story too. it definitely made a mark on me. I'm a sucker for those "revisiting the series' past" stories anyways.

Just finished DE a few days ago. Easy 10 here. I don't think there's anything I need to explain here. Sonic 06's story is bad, but not that bad. There's definitely some good ideas in there. The fact that the ending makes the entire game non-canon is also just brilliant, though perhaps in an unintended way. At the very least, it needs to beat FE Fates...!
