I didn't get a job til college, so I was still a teen, but I'm not sure if it's really in the spirit of the question.

I volunteered starting at age 12, worked at 16.

The economy tanked when I turned 16 in 2008. Even McDonald's in my town required a high school diploma for new hires.

I did casual yardwork for people in my neighborhood for money until I was 19, when I finally got a part time job.

Yeah barring a few weeks or months here and there, I've basically worked ever since I was almost 16

Not technically legal now (I used to work until about 1-2am when I was 14, on school nights even) but I don't regret it one bit.

Yeah. A few. My first job was a seasonal worker at PacSun for a few months in 11th grade. Then Target after the season finished. After doing that for a while, I went to Subway for a few months during the end of the school year. And sometimes after high school while still a teen, I got a job at UPS. And also started doing stuff to go into the Air Force

Started working in the summers in broiler houses around age 10 for minimum wage. I hated it.

I worked in the backroom of a furniture store at 16 and mowed lawns before that. Given that I didn't work many hours (just picked up a few shifts) I think it was good for me.

I also avoided sports/commitments that required everyday attendance, as that burned me out instantly, so I had time to work. I believe those are a problem for American society right now. Either you devote your teenage years to one activity...or you don't have activities. What's wrong with enjoying a sport twice a week? Not everyone needs to try and make the pros.

Where I live the non-full-time options are poor for most sports/activities that my soon-to-be teenager would be interested in.

Paper Route as a kid, then KB Toys as a teen in high school then I moved and got a job at Blockbuster Video also in high school and college.

Oh I did this too while still at school around 14. I also did odd jobs for the owner of the paper shop.

One of my mom's clients (a newspaper publisher) had an employee who was away for a week, and I stepped in to fill their place. I helped assemble the newspapers.
