Finally finished.

I pieced together a pretty huge chunk of the game, but case 5 was still really good. It was long, but the twists it took were great and were still presented in a suitably dramatic fashion. I really enjoyed it a lot.

...I honestly with that it would have ended with Ryunosuke staying in Great Britain, though. I expected him to leave, but it was such a gut punch and I think that "I still have more to learn here!" would have still made an effective ending. I also outright cried when I saw the daruma with the eye filled in, even if I knew it was coming. I'm so bad with endings like that one.

I'm still at the beginning of case 2 in the 1st game.

It took me years to finish Spirit of Justice, I'm on the same speed for this game I see. @_@

Just finished 2-3. If I were to summarize my reaction:

Holy son of a butt, what a case.
It seriously felt like a finale case rather than just the third case. It managed to be extremely long, but never felt like it was dragging on because it was just goddamn quality stuff. It started out as a fairly regular case but it just kept building up to something bigger and bigger. They lured me in with cute witch and cute Gina (who now has a good boy with her) and it kept me with Drebber who was seriously one of the most sinister looking and sinister acting fellows I've seen in the series.

And don't get me started on the post trial cutscenes.

My big problem with G2-3, personally, is

I felt like the actual murder sort of gets forgotten and is ultimately slightly underdeveloped. Dr. Sithe gets almost no screentime, so when it's like "Aha, but Drebber didn't actually do it, Sithe did!", it's like "Oh. Alright then."

Great case, but I wish the actual murder got more focus, because it felt almost unrelated to everything by the end of it all.

Ngl but once I found out that Gina comes back for GAA2, it killed my ambition to play the game. I finished Case 2 but that was it. I can't stand her and personally is like in my bottom 5 characters in Ace Attorney.

Does she play a big role in the rest of the game? Can someone help put my fears to rest? I haven't touched the game in 2 weeks cuz of it. (Though also cuz of WarioWare)

Yep! Tusspells, Gina (with a puppy!), and Kazuma back, I knew it was something you would love. And yeah, Drebber is one of the coolest villains (who turns out to not be the culprit) in the series with a badass theme. The culprit was really cool too, if underutilized.

None of the cases focus on her but yeah, she's in the rest of the game. She's much better in this game though. Different times. You can appreciate how far we have come from the 1800s, but new stories set in the 1800s should not be accommodating to modern day beliefs and standards. It was wrong back then and is wrong now, but I want some semblance of accuracy from the time period even with the fantastical technology provided by Sholmes and Iris.

Just finished day 1 of the trial of case 2-4. The case has an interesting setup with Zieks as the defendent, Gregson dead, and I predicted Kazuma would be the prosecutor. But aside from that premise, it hasn't drawn me in yet.

I did not expect it to end so abruptly like that and the rest of the trial to be case 2-5. That was surprising. Well I pretty much posted all of my thoughts on case 2-4 already, so I guess its on to the finale.

I'm pretty sure it was tongue-in-cheek way of saying they couldn't do many models due to the 3DS hardware the game was developed for, so they reused a lot during the jury sections.

Pretty sure that was just the game lampshading itself for throwing in obviously convenient jurors to be amusing.

Speaking of, I was sad we never saw the Clockwork Orange juror again, lol.

I personally feel like it was a potentially dropped plot point. If I had to guess, it was likely planned to be expanded upon, but got dropped due to time with everything else going on.

It could have been Stronghart doing it since he did have an interest in justice being done in his own way, or it could have been another member of the high up judiciary or even Sholmes, given that Sholmes was actively monitoring, predicting, and countering a lot of the events of both games.

I know this is a completely random question to ask after finishing the 2 games but did the games ever explain why the undercover detective from the first two cases of the first game + the first case of the second game was coughing up blood every other sentence? That was something random that they added that the games never explained... unless I missed something.

They're like 10~ minutes each. They're really not long at all, they're just goofy little side episodes with really silly plots. They're fun if you like the characters, but they're not essential or anything.

God the final breakdown was so great lol. I knew from the very first interaction with Stronghart in the first game that there was no way these two games would end without him either being a victim or a villain.

Guess I'll do the extra stuff tomorrow.

I'm in the middle of case 2 in the first game, and...

I'm really not liking whats happening here. I'm on part 3 of the opening investigation and I feel like based on the actual information given out, there's no reason we're not still in part 1. Everything takes forever. We've literally only visited three areas and talked with the same three people over and over. Snail's pace is an overstatement. This echoes into the "deduction" game, which feels like it takes 60 words to say something that could be said in 10. I could forgive that if the answer to the riddle wasn't blatantly obvious in both instances I've played it. Hopefully it gets more convoluted as we go on, but so far, the style of it is the only positive I feel about it. It's very amusingly made. The whole case reminds me a bunch of the second case in the first Edgeworth Investigations game, where a murder occured while he was stuck on a plane and he was also suspected as the culprit. That case was really good. Probably my favourite of that game. And yeah, I'm not at the end of this, so it might be premature, but it just compares very poorly. I feel like it might be a case that doesn't have a trial segment (though it probably will) based on how its going so far, and I'd be fine with that if not for how slow paced it is. It also doesn't play to the strength of the game's first case, which was its fantastic courtroom animations. They're quite a lot less engaging in the investigation phrase, probably because Naruhodo's were so good and he's the PoV character now.

I also really fucking hate the Sholmes character. He's infuriatingly annoying and dumb. Hosonaga is a much more likeable character, though I fear he'll never shine in a detective role. I suspect Sholmes is our new Gumshoe. In the intro cutscene where he used weird x-ray technology to investigate looked really interesting and its what I wanted from a detective character, not this Lotta Hart-level dumbery combined with an enourmous ego. I know this game is well-liked so I'm assuming shit gets better, but... this is bad right now.

Not really related, but Susato's portrait is so much better than her model.

Finished case 2 and pretty much everything after the point I was writing from in the last post was so much better. It was really great and surprisingly emotional. Very well constructed. Even made me like Sholmes a whole lot more. I really dig that there was a chapter without a trial. Only thing is that anything involving the deductions never rose above mind-numbingly easy and the way it's presented there's nothing that suggests it ever will, though I hope so. I also don't really like how the answer to those things is hidden until you start spinning the room around as you're responding. It means you can't "figure it out" on your own beforehand in a way that's more annoying than when the main games pull a last minute plot reveal. So yeah, I still really don't like the first part of the case, but when it starts to build towards its climax, it gets very good and I'm happy it ended up that way.

so, time-wise, it goes g1-4, g2-2, g1-5, right? if that's the case, i'm not sure why ryunosuke
has been saying that g2-2 is the case after which he can no longer practice law in england, when we already know he's defended someone since?
