Fast food companies dont give a fuck.

They will just continue to burn out what staff they have and cut down to drive thru only.

We are reaching a breaking point, but not quite there yet.

I can honestly see fast food places partnering with prisons or something to get freshly paroled people a job on day one out of the joint. Which is good that they are getting a job, but bad because they will be treated like slaves.

Funny how these fucks love to screech about the free market till it comes back to bite them in the ass. Why would anyone work in food service. If you have to work a shitty job like that Target or Wal-Mart always pay more.

Your business isn't entitled to employees, you want them, make it worth their while.

Its not that the customers are rude. They were rude in the 90s. Theyre hateful, sadistic, and they try to film the workers to put it on the internet. Fuck those type of people.

Everyone knows the pay sucks, but the short staffing is would would drive me to potentially commit a criminal act in response to the customer abuse. Being told to handle the window and lobby and expediting orders and take payments, all while being berated by the general public.

These corporations need to be called out of the abusive workplace environment. Forcing one person to do the jobs of five IS abuse, especially for minimum wage. The customer is always right, so the manager never has the workers back when they try to throw out a rude customer.

I honestly wish all fast food would go away. Thats exactly what the owners, CEOs, and shareholders deserve. The workers should be able to sue for the abuse.

It's probably a mix of that and lack of education in particular fields.

Currently out of a job and I unfortunately don't have any experience in anything but retail/fast food. I guess I could try to see if there's a job out here that doubles as an internship so I can at least learn something.

Because some people let even the slightest bit of power get to them.

It's why Karens talk mad shit towards the 15 year old cashier holding back tears that would get fired if she told them to fuck off, but they're suddenly polite if a 6'3 manager storms in.

Exactly. Nobody applies to work there because they like the food. They apply to everything within a two hour radius of their home and get no call backs. At the end of the month, the landlord doesnt care about your situation, but they will throw you out on the street if you dont have money.

The fact that anyone would even have to consider fast food shows how utterly hopeless the situation is. There just arent enough jobs for us to choose from.

That's another thing, "rude" is putting it nicely.

Oh, yeah. If you raise your voice and scream curse words, youre way past the point of being rude. Of course, you cant kick them out because corporate values their $4 order more than they value the worker.

And the response to that was "They're right. Just don't enforce mask mandates if they don't want to..."

As opposed to simply banning anyone who wouldn't go along with it(Or have security 'escort' anyone causing a scene).

Even now some places have the workers wear mask, but the customers? No mask for them!

I worked at a pizza shop during college. It was perfect! I got tons of free food and enough money to pay for my car and insurance. The work wasn't too bad, and I made friends at work, smoked weed behind the store after we closed. It was good times.

Things are different now, though. More kids in Gen Z don't have the same priorities and they just don't want to work. There are more adults working jobs traditionally filled by teenagers.

I don't mind paying a little more for my fast food so the single mom can make $13/hr or whatever instead of $8 or $9. Funny enough though, the free market is going to make this happen instead of any mandatory minimum wage laws signed by Biden. All the fast food restaurants in my area are hiring and advertising at least $12/hr.... in reality, if you show up to a job interview with a clean shaven face and nice clothes you can probably get a lot more.

This.
An employee's "value" is determined by the lowest pay someone will accept for working there, and nothing else. All a wage floor does is make it easier to set a generic "base" rate.

I'm a supervisor. Just wrote a report telling management. To do a better job with hiring people. Use the resources instead of savoring them. Allocate them in way that'll benefit and grow the company more effectively.

I know it doesn't work. And ultimately they would have to lose profits to have to move for change. But that's a stretch. Last time we lost money. They just let people go. And replaced some of the big higher ups. And never filled some of the voids.

I'm getting into a trade now. And friends are telling me how much I'm going to love it. In comparison.

The only fast food restaurant in my area that still has happy workers and fast moving drive-thrus is probably Chik-Fil-A. Maybe they are happy they have Sundays off and maybe they are paid more.. who knows.

The major franchisees in my area suck ass. I REFUSE to go to my local McDonalds. I waited 20 minutes in a Drive thru to get a fucking happy meal for my kid. Some meth head at the register got my order wrong. No more. I refuse.

Also, a lot of my local fast food restaurants still have their lobbies closed... drive thru only. The only exceptions are Zaxby's, Arby's, McDonalds (kiosk ordering only), and Chik-Fil-A.
