It literally takes more thought/effort to go through the evaluation process of deciding whether or not you should use your signal because you're in a designated turn lane.

Just use it every time you turn. There's no excuse.

In my locality, yes, it is mandatory. Not saying everyone does it, but you're supposed to.

No, people with eyes can see that you're turning if you're in the turning lane. Excessive blinker usage will just burn out your lights and battery faster. /s

It's mandatory where I live. If you think a light blinking for a few seconds will burn out your lights + battery, lol.

Unless you're in a locale with dedicated turn lanes that are controlled by traffic lights, you should use your signal.

I'm guessing the actual legal requirement varies from place to place. I actually don't know whether it's formally required here or not. However,

This. The only time you should actually question using a turn signal is when turning it on might confuse people about your intentions, and that's very, very rare. I can't even think of an example. Every other time, if you're turning your vehicle, just signal it. Absolute worst case scenario, you use it unnecessarily and take 1-2 seconds off of that $2 bulb's 10,000 hour lifespan. Oh no.

At that point someone is either running a red light or completely ignoring the signal for their own lane. Such a person is not likely to notice your signal.

I just think it makes sense so that the people across from you in the intersection can see how many lanes are turning left. This makes spacing/turning more easy to predict. Also so that people approaching from behind have a clearer idea of where the turn lanes are and how many there are. Even if they are marked above etc, at least you know the person is intentionally there and it's easy to appraise the lanes in front of u \_()_/.

I definitely enjoyed ripping around the highway around Las Vegas, but yeah, people drive like asshats + cruise across lanes without indication. People do it here too (west coast Canada) but a lot more rarely.

it makes no sense to do so in a "turn only" lane, but some places require it by law, so might as well do it just I case

I never do. That repetitive sound drives me nuts, especially if I'm just sitting there.

At least if I'm changing a lane or making a right-turn I won't keep the blinkers on for 90+ seconds during rush hour.

I never trust that someone knows that they are in a turn lane so if they don't have their blinker going I'm pretty wary of them because I've seen too many people go straight while in a turn lane.
