Because they realize they could get sued for misinforming the public and causing a ton of people to die.
Also possibly because they had someone in their family / friend circle die from it and now it's suddenly "real" to them.

Neither option in the poll is right, but 2 is closer to correct.

Neither option is correct. You have poorly assessed the situation. Its a two-fold issue.

1) The party has been spreading disinformation as part of the Trump presidency for years. Once you start this cycle, it becomes hard to stop and you have to go along with it or risk alienating the people youve been leading along.

2) There was an assumption that the risk of the virus had waned. But due to the emergence of more contagious strain, there has been a worldwide resurgence. So now, most of the deaths and hospitalizations are from those who are unvaccinated, which is mostly Republican led states. Heavy death tolls and high hospitalizations do not bode well for vulnerable Representatives and could be used nationally as well.

Most of it is in deep red states, I really don't think it's going to actually cost them any Senate seats or chances at controlling the House. Census just happened, so any effects from waves of death on losing districts is also averted.
Don't buy this as an actual reason.

Ok, first of all the stock market isn't even "tanking", it's been a fucking rocket ship for no damn reason for a long time now. It had a small dip a few days ago and is already back to where it was before that dip now.
2nd of all, if it were tanking...which it is not... why now? COVID's been a thing for a year and a half, what the hell has changed to suddenly make it finally affect the markets? It affected them for literally a week in 2020, then Fed turned on the free money hose and stocks have been partying ever since, in spite of all the negative economic impacts on the "real economy". Literally WTF has gotten so much worse lately to change that?

They literally started saying it last week when Covid cases were rapidly rising and areas with low vaccination rates were experiencing hospital surges.

Additionally, both Pfizer and Moderna stocks are up since June and began rising weeks before the recent Republican push for vaccinations.

I just dont understand why people who are adults would claim things in an argument that are easily verified and false.

Moderna Stock is currently 323 a share up from 147 in March.

Pfizer is up to 42 after being as low as 32 in March.

@helIy where in the past month did either stock tank?

The stocks are literally up which is the opposite of tanking.

Wow, you are even more of a dullard than I thought.

Fox Corp A, the actual name for the company that owns foxnews stock, was at an all time high in March of this year when the vaccine was out and Reps like McCarthy (came out as pro-vax last week) were still sewing doubt.

Their stock cratered to about where it is now on March 31st and has remained there. If they were concerned about Fox News stock price and thought it was related to anti-vax news, they would have changed their tune in April when it actually crashed, not July, where we now are.

Again, stock prices can be easily verified, why make stuff up?

hey look at that, the one thing you were right about: stock prices are very easily found out.

that sharp rise? just before that was when hannity pleaded for people to get vaccinated, and then everyone else started doing it, too.

and then bam, stock magically shot back up.

That is not even right. Trump flip-flopped nigh hourly on whether to trust vaccines at all or to go for a vaccine, any vaccine, even if it's untested; depending on whom he was talking to for political and sales pitch reasons. Biden and Kamala said we need to test the vaccines first and get them distributed as soon as we're able, except then a company in Germany got the first test-approved vaccine ready and that's one of the three or four Biden/Kamala pushed for everyone to use.

And since then the side of Trump's followers who believe that the pandemic is a hoax and that the vaccine is every combination of fake, dangerous, and a hoax are happy that "The libs" didn't get the numbers they wanted all because they refused to have a shot and be sort-of sick for a day in exchange for high resistance to an actual virus. The other side of Trump's followers? They're also happy that some of "The libs" (read: everyone else in an "us vs them" mentality) are unhappy . . . because of said mindset. Some will even spread misinformation about details surrounding the vaccines, their development, or who pushed for what and why.

You're misremembering. From what I recall, the majority of Americans, not just the Dems, said they wouldn't go for something both rushed and untested. Now, it is true that the Dems believed that anything Trump endorsed would have been rushed or untested, largely thanks to his history of failures that carried his name, but no. Then a vaccine came out from a German company, and of course Trump and his people did what they could to take some credit for it while a fraction of the US population lined up to try and get the likely-tested vaccine that trump had no actual hand in. fast forward to today, and there are three or four different vaccines, none of which are the making of Trump or his ilk; naturally Dems, Independents, et al., would go for them as long as said people are able (without medical risk or allergies, for example).

That's not walking back. That's pouncing on a better offer.
