Everyone I know who listens to or reads Jordan Peterson are practically brain spilling out of their ears stupid. But from what I've heard from JP is just a bunch of platitudes and basic self-help/motivational squelch that sounds like information that your Dad or a father-figure, any parental figure really, should have told you by the age of eight or nine.

So what happens? Is there some secret Jordan Peterson podcast that fries your brain?

Because I am curious what morons see in him. I would probably recommend most people who listen to him see an actual therapist.

He generally upholds the status quo in terms of gender roles, and attracted a certain crowd with some pretty extreme views. Instead of denouncing said views, he more or less leaned into the popularity (though never advocating those views) and I think he now generally tells that crowd whatever they want to hear for confirmation bias, to keep making money.

Though I also read he had some serious health issues from trying an all meat diet.

He hates political correctness and portrays himself as an intellectual authority so ppl who also dislike political correctness flock to him as he reinforces their preexisting beliefs

Pretty much. He's like a less extreme version of Trump: In a world where some people are feeling personally attacked because "political correctness" is telling them they need to consider new ideas if they want to be nice to people, anyone publicly saying otherwise is desperately latched on to by those people. It's less that Peterson turns people into drooling morons and more that people that aren't drooling morons don't find him particularly remarkable or interesting.

I don't know. But I like how he promotes the idea that a person is more than capable to make their life better than it is now. He also talks about how fucking hard it is, and how normal it is for life to be difficult, and for that to be a challenge to overcome and not something to stop you in your tracks and whine about. I like him.

He's just another self-help shill. Way different from, but has a similar hustle to guys like Deepak Chopra. Solutions to all your problems! But with a bizarre backing ideological word salad. Fake smart shit from a rich quack with sus intentions.

Well that's dumb as fuck because you should be able to succeed while also acknowledging your troubles in the past. All Peterson fanboys act as if trauma isn't real and think they're better because their lives aren't as interesting as other people.

I find his work incredibly interesting if you focus on his philosophy and psychology books/lectures. The obsession with his political views is a little strange, though of course you can't ignore that aspect of his worldview entirely.

Everybody should rightfully criticize political correctness, though. At best, it's fascism pretending to be manners. At worse, it's fascism without the pretense of being manners. And it tortures the English language harder than INGSOC.

I don't take advice from postmodernist Christian conservatives. This guy got famous amongst alt-righters because of his dishonest fearmongering over Canadian bill C-16. I even almost got sucked into his bullshit back then. He's no philosopher either, unless quoting infinitely smarter people is what's considered philosophy. I can't even watch him debate Sam Harris or Matt Dillahunty anymore because it's so embarrassing how out of his league he is even to them.

My housemate basically swears by him, Tim Poole, and Shapiro, and he spends his free time on Twitter with vegan tagged so he can get upset and harass women (its always women) about how theyre only vegan because theyre fat and unloveable (hes very skinny fat and acting like this makes him unlovable), and then gets upset when Twitter bans him for harassing people.

One of his favorite hobbies is talking about how he wanted to be a game designer, while only playing sports games and FPSs on his PS5 he overpaid for, and then finds himself unable to understand turn-based JRPGs because Why would they make a game like THAT if they had a choice?
