This scenario should have never taken place.

Unless the owners raised the dogs well and thought they were pussycats, they shouldn't have subjected the dog sitter to them.

Fuck that either way you don't watch 4 pit bulls or a pack of any other dogs known for aggression that aren't yours.

Awesome? I'm not a doctor so my terminology is wrong, sorry. That's a real gotcha there pal, completely negates what happened because I used the wrong term. Good job?

Fair. Even my therapist didn't really know how to treat me since he neighbor still has 2 aggressive pits that snarl and bark and throw themselves at their cage every time I go outside. Its a constant trigger and a valid fear,, and short of drugs which I shot down immediately, she straight up said she can't treat me successfully so I stopped going.

The comparison to rape is apt, given the context. Trauma is trauma, a victim is a victim. My point was its wildly offensive and ignorant for him to judge the severity of anyone's assault. Like can you imagine someone telling you "i got assaulted" and responding with "did you die? Its not that bad lol"?

Or maybe, and I know this might sound crazy, but maybe that's because pit bulls and mixes maul and kill far more than other breeds. If Labradors were causing the same amount of carnage that pit bulls do, I think it'd be reported the same way.

Adrenaline and rage combined with just having literally fought for my life and my dogs makes a guy do crazy things. People own pitbulls because they can be very charming dogs, when they are in a good mood they are extremely lovable and affectionate. That's not under dispute, the problem is that they can snap in an instant for seemingly no reason and seriously injure people and children and they do. It's documented. They have the reputation they have for a reason and it's not made up out of thin air.

Pitbulls are also dishonest dogs. If you see a dog with a wagging tail looking at you or coming you're way you naturally assume they are in a friendly or curious state of mind, not with Pitbulls. They can do that and be on their way to maul you.

This is why people hate them too, almost all other dogs the body language is indicating their mood and intent, no so for a pitbull and it has gotten many people attacked, and sadly some killed.

Am I bias against pitbulls ? Hell yes and I got this way from experiences with them.

People die from dog attacks everyday. Pitbull attacks gain mainstream attention because of the narrative in which it can be spun in order to invite fear...aka clicks.

Look at this topic. It's worked. There are dozens of grown men in this topic literally afraid of a breed of dog. What a sad way to live.

There truly are no bad dogs, just bad owners. Unfortunately, a good portion of bad owners (terrible human beings) seek out Pitbulls because of the reputation the media has built for them.

It all feeds into the same shitty never ending circle.

This is because shitty people who train dogs to do shitty things openly seek out Pitbulls. They do it because of stats like this.

If you are an evil human being wanting to raise an agressive fighting dog then you are going to go out of your way to secure a pitbull.

If the media would stop perpetuating this fear mongering then less thugs would seek out Pitbulls to use as weapons, and these stats would go down.

I've dog fostered many times growing up. I can take a super agressive dog, including a pitbull, and in months train it to be passive, and full of love.

It's a skill. Bad owners, not bad dogs.

A wagging tail on a dog does not mean that it is always a friendly outward gesture. A wagging tail could also indicate anything from fear to excitement, aggression, or a challenge of dominance. Dogs aren't "dishonest", they don't "lie" as they aren't on the cognitive level of great apes such as ourselves.

This is just completely false. All dogs use their tail to show a variety of emotions.

Tail wagging can be used as a social signal within species and convey the emotional state of the dog.[3] The tail wagging behavior of a dog may not always be an indication of its friendliness or happiness, as is commonly believed. Though indeed tail wagging can express positive emotions, tail wagging is also an indication of fear, insecurity, challenging of dominance, establishing social relationships, or a warning that the dog may bite.[4][5] It is also important to consider the way in which the dog wags its tail. Usually positive feelings within a dog are associated with the right side. For instance, if a dog is about to receive a treat, their tail will likely move with a bias towards its right. On the other hand, negative feelings are typically connected with a bias towards its left side. If a dog is being approached by another dog and feels threatened, the dog's tail will usually move more to its left.[6] One hypothesis states that the asymmetries are actually evolved and are kept as evolutionarily stable strategies, that aid dogs in detecting when they should interact with each other.[1] The direction, as well as height and width of the tail wag can convey important cues about the social condition of the animal.[7] Different colourations and patterns, contrasting tip are likely evolved to improve communication with the tail[8]

This is true. Literally yesterday I was at my parent's house. They have 2 mini schnauzers. One is super friendly to all people and dogs. The other wants to fight anyone he doesn't know
I was in the house and my parents and sister went outside and were talking to their neighbors. The neighbors also had a dog out with them. The angry schnauzer could see all this from a window and he spent like 20 minutes barking like crazy while I was trying to calm him down

Also his tail kept wagging. But he was definitely not happy

"Attack" needs to be better defined. Yes, labs and chihuahuas do have high numbers for biting people, just like pits.

The difference is when most common dog breeds attack, it is one bite or a fight that is over quickly. I have never, ever heard of a group of labs or chihuahuas hunting down people, eating them, or tearing them apart. Hear about it with pits almost daily. When a pit attacks, it is 100% hell bent on killing the thing it attacked. When a lab etc bites, by and far it is saying "back off" and is not actively trying to kill or eat the person/dog it is attacking.

Without a gun, knife, or large rock to bash its fucking head in or break its spine, you are at the "mercy" of the dog.
