Differential equations and some emag classes of that counts.

Friend tried to convince me to take abstract algebra and theoretical calculus or something one year... I just laughed.

I failed it because I didn't really care at all for it. It was the last class I needed for a bachelor's in mathematics as well

Though physics with calc, had some harder problems because you had to actually think the effects through even if in general the math wasnt quite as complex.

Some advanced trigonometry class, which was the class you take right before any calculus class, atleast in my high school back in the day.

Got a D in it and kind of lolnoped at the idea of doing a calculus class. (That and I think getting a D meant you couldn't progress to calc anyways, but it's been so long I forget.)

Right. Engineering and Physics students get exposed to PDEs. I mean you have to learn some of the basics in order to do EM or QM because the Maxwell Equations and the Schrodinger equation are obviously PDEs. Usually they will also take a few semesters of something called Applied Mathematics for Engineers/Physicists or Mathematical Physics where you probably learn some more linear algebra, fourier analysis and PDEs.

That's not really the same as a math PhD student taking a graduate level PDE class so as to prepare for their qualifying exams on the subject.

Just like there are different levels of difficulty for a subject like Electromagnetism. Undergrad students typically learn from David Griffiths text "Introduction to Electrodynamics" and graduate students will use "Classical Electrodynamics" by Jackson. The later is a significantly more difficult book.

P. sure it was Algebra 2 in high school - the Physics class I took from what I remember triple hatted as an AP course plus science plus math.

In college I've only taken Statistics so far. I have to take a few higher level ones for my major we'll see how that goes.

So over here, there's only a single "maths" subject up to and including the second-to-last year of high school. In the last year, it splits into statistics and calculus classes, I did both, but didn't take any maths papers at post-high-school level.

I think QM was harder than any of the pure math classes I took though

Algebra 1 and a bit of trigonometry.

I have a GED, but I really don't like math, because it's such an overrated slog. :(

Like, my brain is actually super logical, so I know I'd be more adept than this if I actually applied myself, but when post-university job prospects in the United States are so theoretical and I can hardly maintain a job anyway, I'd just rather do something that I feel is more productive with my time.

Math is learnable, but it takes way too fucking long; things become seriously problematic when you realize that you can't bullshit your way through it like you can, say, a history class or something. Every subsequent concept builds upon a preceding one, and that just seems way too annoying considering how immensely vast and complex the topic actually is.

It's also obnoxious when you're systematically writing down one problem on one or more pages, only to find out you fucked up a step somewhere down the line.

Math apologists are annoying when they say or imply that math is for everyone. It's not.
