It might actually be my pick here. I feel like it's a pretty tough call between FFXIII-2, FFXIII, and FFX. Type-0 and VIII deserve mention too.

As for the daily challenge. Yeah, idk what to make of that category. My first thought was something like how Silver Will is basically embedded in like a dozen different songs across FC and SC and so it'd be picking your favorite not-the-original-Silver-Will song but I'm just downright trash at picking up on those things.

If I go with your favorite song interpretation... I still don't know! Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Caius's Theme is always a safe one for me to fall back on... but I might have used it for boss theme? I should have at least. Zero (Type-0 Ending; Used for Ending day) is another good one. Then you've got ones like Premonition (FFVIII), The Price of Freedom (Crisis Core), and Someday the Dream Will End that I always come back to and listen to at any given time.

idk let's go left field and have me join the FFXIV crew with a song from it that was in the last VGMC that I've listened to a lot over the past 8-9 months because of that. FFXIV: Shadowbringers - Who Brings Shadow.

13's definitely more well-regarded than 12! Haven't seen many 12 OST fans. Otherwise I'd say you got the top 10 most liked down pat.

6-9 are all among my favorite soundtracks ever. 9 probably the best overall?

You're Not Alone! also my favorite FF (and video game) song overall, so that can be my pick for the daily song, if that's what it means.

Don't know if it's the best, but it's always the one my mind goes to first. I just think it's really good and impressively done. Now if we're talking about an in-game song where the piano is the primary instrument, I'd probably give the nod to Via Purifico from Final Fantasy X. Love that song.

I don't think YNA is that simple though! It changes things up a decent amount and is short enough that it doesn't get old, plus it switches between a large number of different instruments. There are plenty of simpler beloved FF songs!

Question about Cold Steel 4 - Act 2 First trip on the Merkabah. Talking to Emma and we get a flashback of Rean complimenting her without her glasses. I don't remember when that was? Her bonding event in CS3 was at the forest iirc, and don't remember her ever taking her glasses off.

and is the one that runs in the bathroom with Rean the one I romanced in 3? Because that was Alisa for me.

That Emma scene is her final bonding scene from CS3 I think. Also I think it's just Alisa always - I only romanced Laura in CS3 and still got her.

One more reason having a selectable love interest instead of a story-mandated one was a bad idea! Bioware didn't do it particularly well with Mass Effect either, but at least they didn't totally crap the bed on it like Falcom.

Eh, Mass Effect did mostly fine with it starting with 2. There are some unfortunate mishaps (*cough*Jacob*cough*) but I was generally happy with what they did with the major ones.

Oh, I meant specifically in terms of carrying it across from game to game. Wasn't really clear there. ME has some great romances, like with Tali and Garrus, and some amazing alternate stuff like Tali and Garrus hooking up which felt real good.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I think they carry over from 2 to 3 fairly well for the most part. Stuff from 1 doesn't carry over to 2 very well because, well, your only three romantic options from 1 are barely in 2 (although they try to make up for it with Liara in the Shadow Broker DLC).

I thought it was funny that you could cheat on Liara in ME2 then get together with her anyway in Shadow Broker. Way to let us have our cake and eat it too, Bioware!

There was a little flashback of them kissing in CS3. Dunno if everyone got that.

Day 17: Best Remastered Track

This is a strange category because only a handful of games qualify for it. Anyway, with all due respect to the Airbuster boss theme remaster of Still More Fighting (which is awesome), Remake took a so-so song from the original game and made it beautiful here. It's a total upgrade of the original in every way.

Well, I've made it to the third (and presumably last) phase of the final boss of Origami King. It's been pretty easy so far, but it's got a good atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have to leave before I can finish the game, so hopefully nothing causes it to shut down before I get back!

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth started. Didn't play too much though, things happened these past few days which cut into most of my time I otherwise may have been able to put towards it.

LOL at the old cast deciding to go "ah it couldn't have been important then" to Kuon's amnesia only for Kurou to blow it up on them. Glad he did because I wouldn't have liked Kuon bogged down in that kind of plot. I liked Koun's formal clothes and was disappointed she swapped back to her traveling outfit but now that she has embraced her role as Punished Kuon (this was a great scene when she flipped the switch btw) I'm assuming she'll go back to it.

Over in Ennakamuy I've only seen a few scenes with Haku and Nekone going around but they were pretty good, their dynamic should promise to be fascinating given the circumstances. Nekone in particular is pretty heartbreaking to watch, especially as she tried to convince herself that having Haku keep up the act and lie to her mom was the right thing to do.

Yeah, the Origami Bowser fight was pretty neat. It was good that he got one cool moment in a game where he didn't do much otherwise!

Cold Steel 4 - Act 2. Hit the part where we can explore West Erebonia day 1. Just did all og Bryonia Island, including the Cryptid there. Going with Rean/Altina/Alisa/Gaius for now, with Laura/Crow backup. Alisa's Heavenly Gift is even better now that she can hit herself with it. Might ditch Crow for someone with Accelerate, because I did miss having that option against the Cryptid. Maybe Juna.
