Yeah, UBI supporters here don't seem to get exactly how expensive it would be. It's not something you can pay for with just unnoticeable spending cuts and/or taxes on billionaires. You'd be looking at massive cuts to just about every government program (yes, even with the savings from eliminating every current form of welfare spending) and/or huge tax increases for everyone.

As former military, at the end of the fiscal year we would buy a shit ton of expensive crap we didn't need just so we could get more money next year.

And if this was happening at one squadron of one branch, I imagine it was happening everywhere.

There is so much money that could be taken away from the military budget and literally nothing would change.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently the Senate just passed the Covid budget resolution that'll allow them to bypass the filibuster when voting for the actual bill... but that vote on the actual bill won't take place until after the impeachment trial.

The trial is important, but it's not have superceded $1400 checks and the expansion of unemployment. This seems like Dems just prioritized things terribly. =/
