I just watched the series up until now. The first few episodes are basically garbage. helly is right that this show is absolutely intended to be binge watched or at the very least would be better served in a movie format considering 80% of it is just filler. I hate the girl from the thor movies and she needs to be in less things. And the show is definitely better with xmen quicksilver.

The mix of comedy and suspense was great. Honestly the end of this episode drove that home even harder.

Could be, especially since she brought up that thing about bringing sparky back from the dead to test Wanda (pretty sure that's what happened).

Pretty sure everyone knew something was up with Agnes. Especially last episode when Vision "cleared her mind." It felt off.

i mean, maybe?

but that wouldn't really work out since, well i guess she doesn't actually know probably, that vision re-died when he left the hex.

and if that was the case, i don't know how they'd get around the whole "you lose all of your memories when you're brought back in that reality" thing

We don't really know if Vision not remembering is a being brought back to life thing, or a Wanda thing. She might have wanted him to forget.

Wanda's powers only seem to be growing. I think either she finds a way to extend the hex to effectively cover the whole planet, or her powers are amped again when doesn't have to worry about maintaining the barrier, or controlling a whole town. Fully reviving someone might be possible at that point.

Hard disagree. But then again I hate humor that's member berries so maybe its just lost on me I guess. I think this would have been much better served in a set of scenes at the beginning of a movie establishing Wanda's refusal to acknowledge what happened and what not. The whole thing would have been better served as a movie really. It dwelled far too long on things we already understood or were really obvious and even then that was only a few minutes of the entire episode(s). There were only a few minutes of actual story development before the 4th episode or so. Honestly after the first two episodes I didn't want to keep watching at all because I thought the whole thing was just gonna be this dumb series of boring callbacks to different eras but goofy cause magic. I only became more interested when they actually started to develop the world outside the insular hex.

"Not liking the slower buildup or the parodies" is not the same thing as "made to binge".

The discussion and theorizing over the little hints in every episode has been a huge part of the fun.

Just because your preferred way of viewing it is to binge it (nothing wrong with that) does not mean it was made with that intention. The show is very obviously designed to generate weekly discussion and buzz. Any modern show is going to be conducive to binging since that's how we tend to rewatch shows and how new and future viewers will likely absorb it, but the production and release of this show makes it very obvious its initial release is intended as an "event series" that is discussed week to week at the office water cooler.

I think longer shows are usually meant for the water cooler. But this show does seem to want to be binged based on what co-workers are saying. Some are waiting to binge. Others wanted to, but were getting spoiled and gave in... But in the modern world, things are usually binged now...

I still don't think it was made to be binge watched. The structure is clearly episodic, especially considering it was inspired by old sitcoms. Just because you want to binge watch it doesn't mean that it was made with that intent, and I'm a huge binge watcher. Most of these episodes have ended with cliffhangers that are meant to spark speculation and discussion. Hard to do that if it is all put out at once.

Idk. I think the cliffhangers are there more to just bring you back to the show instead. You can spark discussion and speculation from the show itself. But cliffhangers are usually there to make you come back to see more of the show...

I mean, can't they do both? Provide speculation and bring interest/excitement to watch next week's episode. I think when it comes down to it, the show writers and director obviously knew the format of Disney+ and that format is weekly episodes. It quite literally was made to be an episodic watch. That in addition to the fact that it is heavily inspired by episodic sitcoms which has clearly affected the structure is why I'm agreeing with TDC. Not that any of this really matters in the end. I'm enjoying the show regardless. I just like to debate to pass the time sometimes.

I think it can be both, but I dont think that was the reason for this show. Or for most shows, really. Even without a cliffhanger, many shows will have people talking and speculating. IMO, I dont think a good show should have to rely on a cliffhanger to spark discussion about the next episode. And I think even without cliffhangers, people would still be talking about this show, I would think. I think most content these days are made to be binged. And the cliffhangers are more for keeping people coming back. Thats just how I feel about it, though...

For my personal viewing, I dont feel like waiting, so I normally binge everything these days...

I definitely agree that I don't like waiting. Netflix has really spoiled me with binging whole shows in a few days. Whereas WandaVision and Attack on Titan Season 4 are killing me with the wait time between episodes, they do give me something to look forward to each week.

There's also the added problem that shows designed to generate buzz and lead people to spend a week discussing what happened and trying to predict what's going to happen next in the show aren't very appealing to people who don't actually have any friends.

Half the appeal of shows like Game of Thrones or Twin Peaks back in the day was the "water-cooler" talk about the show the next day. But we're in the middle of a pandemic, and people are more antisocial now in general even without the enforced lockdowns, so that sort of conversational discussion is kind of a dead art. Now we mostly just get a sea of voices ranting about their opinions on Twitter and no one really giving much of a shit what other people think.
