okay, fans are upset something is different. But let me ask, could have the witch-king realistically have done that? Like if he was having a good day and Gandalf with just slightly off his game

They are under no ones command. The wizards/elves had the ability to request their aid in dire circumstances, and then they could choose to come or not.

I thought the Eagles served Manwe, though? Does he not command them in any way? (Not that this really matters much for LotR, other than potentially explaining why the Eagles don't do more.)

Maybe. There is a lot of precedent in Tolkien that unless there is a huge power gap between two opponents, the fight will go to whoever is braver, more clever, less arrogant, etc. that day. This usually works in favor of the good guys, but the good guys can also get tripped up here if they are too full of themselves.

Technically, but it is questionable to what degree eagles of the Third Age were directly commanded by Manwe.

Yeah, in the books they never meet. Gandalf left the battle before then to save Faramir. In fairness to the Witch King, Gandalf contemplated their upcoming confrontation, and in his mind he still respected the Witch King as a formidable opponent. He wasnt like, lol that guy, Im gonna spank his ass.
I think they meet but never fight because as soon as they do the Rohirrim shows up and the Witch King leaves to deal with it.

There is the "Fly, you fools" theory also... lol

One popular fan theory that surfaced on Reddit several years ago posits that Gandalf did plan to fly to Mordor using the eagles, but died before he could put his idea into motion. As posted by VulcanDeathGrip, the first leg of the Fellowship's journey saw Gandalf take the group through the Misty Mountains - incidentally the area the Great Eagles call their home. Gandalf may have planned to take Frodo and the others not through the mountains, but to the eagles' nest, where they could make the rest of the journey by air. This could explain why Gandalf was reluctant to pass through Moria, because that path took the Fellowship further south, away from the waiting eagles.

Upon his death he says "Fly, you fools" hoping they get it... but they don't.

but he didn't SAY anything because he wanted to spare Gimli's feelings and he fucking died for it

I don't think Gandalf knew the Balrog for sure was there or what happened to the dwarves. I don't think he was sparing Gimli's feelings. And even if he did know, telling Gimli that would have even moreso made him rush to go there.

Yeah I know that one of the options Tolkien considered was that the original ones were corrupted elves, since he decided he didnt want evil to be able to create life from nothing.

I just dont know of any mention of them being corrupted REINCARNATED elves

Melkor was the first to learn of the Awakening of the Elves. He soon began sending evil spirits among the Elves, who planted seeds of doubt against the Valar. It is also rumoured that some of the elves were being captured by a "Rider" if they strayed too far, and the elves later believed these were brought to Utumno, where they were cruelly tortured and twisted into Orcs.

Saruman:
Do you know how the Orcs first came into being? They were elves once, taken by the dark powers, tortured and mutilated. A ruined and terrible form of life. And now... perfected. My fighting Uruk-Hai. Whom do you serve?
Lurtz:
Saruman.

I mean, unless you want to argue they aren't dead while they are pulling their bodies from the ground. I suppose.

Apparently the Isengard Uruk Hai were crossbred between humans and orcs and/or orcs and goblins by Saruman themself. And them being in the ground was because they arise from the ground like maggots? Idk.

The first orcs were elves, but the orcs after were from breeding... So elf lineage..
I guess.

I don't think so. One of the main themes of Tolkien's work is the idea of the "gift of men," which is the ability to truly leave the world, which is impossible for an elf. How long an elf must wait in the Halls of Mandos (I guess in spiritual form only?) before reincarnation depends in large part on how virtuous they were in life.

Tolkien thought Shakespeare copped out by having shitty disguises be the forest rising against Macbeth and thought the "no man of woman born" twist should've been a woman killing him, so he decided to do them right

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Witch King heard a prophecy that he would not be killed by man, so he felt invincible fighting against men. So he let down his guard.

Sorry, I got this wrong (was a year ago that I read Fellowship). Right before they reached Tom Bombadil, the hobbits went through the Barrow Downs, an ancient war zone that is now haunted. While escaping, the hobbits grabbed the weapons that were buried in a tomb, not realizing these weapons were magical. I believe Tom Bombadil took a look at these weapons when he rescued the hobbits from the old tree and realized what they were, and told them to keep them. It was a very well-kept example of foreshadowing.

Okay that makes more sense . way more sense. So they killed him because of stuff that was not established in the movie but still had to be there

I mean I have nothing against girl power at all but that would've been just....weird

Also him being full of himself makes no sense since they survived Aragorns attack and they were told they were immortal when they questioned it
