debating if I wanna get one. I don't really know if I have the space for one. But the idea of having frozen pork belly, brisket, or other tasty meats on hand to slice into a nice bowl of Ramen, some other soup, or my own Korean BBQ at home seems very, very appealing.

Some are cheap. And some are insanely expensive...

Why buy a deli slicer when you can build a guillotine out of scrap wood and an old lawn mower blade?

But you have to keep resetting it. And that takes time...

If you have heels that are a little too tall you can shave them down for comfort with a slicer

Why not? They are sharp enough to cut the tip of the finger off which is why you use a guard. It'll thinly slice anything.

Being sharp enough to cut meat and being able to cut decent slices of meat are two very different things. We tend to consider literally any cut to be a problem when it's our own flesh, but slicing meat tends to involve more restrictive standards than that.

Are deli meat slicers strong enough to cut frozen meat? Otherwise you're just gonna have hunks of meat in your fridge.

---
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

Yes. It is actually easier to cut frozen meat than it is to cut hot meat.

A deli slicer is extremely efficient at slicing, but a total pain in the ass to clean, and unless you like foodborne illnesses, you have to clean the hell out of it after every use. Like a stand mixer, but much less versatile. Also takes up a lot of counter real estate. Unless it's a real good deal (and with so many restaurants going under, you probably could get one used for pennies on the dollar) it's probably not worth it. And replacement blades are like printer ink compared to the price of the machine for an industrial slicer.

This. I had the same thought and had one many years ago. While I did use it often, having someplace to store it was the biggest issue.
