There are a number of things in the coming century that could fuck us up, but my current #1 worry is climate change. In general we're pretty good at scraping together solutions, so I don't think we're necessarily hurtling toward extinction. I don't want to fall into the trap of like, generational fear of progress? Which isn't necessarily always tied to age but it often is and I think that starts with being scared of the future now when I'm in my early 30s. I actually think that the current pandemic shows that. It has shown that issues like CO2 emissions are solvable, that a huge majority of people fundamentally want to help each other, and it has in many places managed to beat the fascist wave the world was facing into retreat.
