Yeah, I'm very interested to know how widespread this issue is, and how much of it is the result of policy and how much is the result of a rogue OBGYN who finds excuses to perform that procedure on as many people as possible.

Either way it is an utterly tragic situation and needs to result in corrective oversight and punishment for guilty parties immediately.

This is really scary - has the D or R party ever been left off a ballot because of technical mistakes in their filings? The Green Party is not some random person with no support running for President. This is a major party that regularly wins millions of votes nationally.

Hopefully this will be challenged in federal court next.

Kicking the Green Party off the ballot may have been "correct" according to the rules but an address change invalidating paperwork is some pretty dumb bureaucratic issue that shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. Just a stupid situation all around.

So expanding on the Wisconsin scenario a bit further, there are 2 scenarios here, both of which are awful:

1. This would never happen to the D or R parties because the authorities wouldn't allow an election to go forward without one of them.

In that case, we are giving superprivileged status to the D and R parties, similar to the status enjoyed by the Communist Party in the Communist bloc. For example, in East Germany, other parties technically existed and could be voted for, but the problem was that they were always forced to be in coalition with the SED so there was no way to vote against the SED. Such privileged status for some parties is completely antidemocratic and antithetical to our republic.

2. This could also happen to the D or R parties.

In that case, you could literally have a US Presidential election decided by someone at a local D or R party making a typo on an election filing. Again, totally antithetical to our republican principles where elections are supposed to be decided by the people, not by whether party employees make clerical errors.

There is only one way to resolve this, and that is that the Green Party must be put on those ballots. Federal courts should do it, since the state court system won't.

We did this before when we abolished the INS and replaced it with ICE. It would just be replaced with another agency that does the same thing.

Sedition? I don't think that's been recognized as a crime in the United States since Jefferson's presidency, but I will point out that truth is NOT a defense to a charge of seditious libel. There are even legal opinions from the 1700s that say that seditious libel being true makes it worse, since it causes even more damage to the public's confidence in their government.

Right but legislative independence actually means no input in rules you have to follow, reducing financial transfers means losing investments and financial benefits from the EU (and brexit has already cost more than nearly 50 years of EU membership), and negotiating your own trade deals is a much worse position than being part of an enormously powerful trade bloc. Its just juvenile simplification.

And similarly, there is no advantage to the IMB. Its just sabre rattling to try to scare the EU into a deal, and it hasnt worked, but it has hurt the UK a lot just by being suggested. The people running the UK are not very smart.

Honestly, I'm more surprised that Mr. Trump did not force the U.S. Army to shoot an advertisement for him given his proclivity to use government resources to campaign. My guess is that he probably asked, and was told a resounding 'no'.
