Title pretty much says it all. What's a condiment that you think is absolutely disgusting to eat by itself? And just to stipulate, this should be something that you think tastes pretty good when it's used as a condiment, so try not to answer with something you just hate altogether.

The condiment that I actually eat (if rarely) in tuna fish (and only with tuna in oil), but would never eat by itself is Mayonnaise.

Every other condo I eat, I don't mind eating by itself, mustard and ketchup are the two most common. Steak sauce, bbq sauce as well. Relish after that, and finally hot sauce/salsa rounds out all the condiments I actually eat, and all of em are fine by themselves on the tip of my finger or something.

I won't eat a burger with Mayo on it, or a sammich (other than tuna). Certainly would never even consider eating just Mayo straight up.

I don't mind it when there's just a small amount and the flavor is balanced out with other things. But too much is so overpowering that it's all you can taste.

I remember making mustard sandwiches as a kid. If I was lucky I'd have potato chips to put in them (bbq of course).

I don't mind the taste of mustard by itself honestly. I would like eat spoonfuls but it ain't bad. I use it on some foods when I cook to impart the taste (like grey poupon roasted chicken for instance).

In that case I think I would go with hot sauce. I don't think it's disgusting but it would be a more annoying experience than eating like ketchup or mayo.

Mayonnaise. I like it in things but imagine just eating spoonfuls of that stuff. I think I tried that before and almost threw up. All that fat/oil. Mustard and ketchup have acid so I think you can gobble down a lot without getting real queasy and upset.

I've never tried it in tuna. Just one hot dogs and sausages. Might give that a go.

Grey Poupon used to make a cracked pepper mustard that was so freaking good I actually ate a jar of it by itself. Just dipped a spoon into the jar and ate it. They stopped making the stuff like 25 years ago and I haven't been able to find anything even remotely close.

I'll use mayo in all kinds of things like sandwiches, dips, and tuna/chicken/ham/etc salad, but by itself it's totally gross. My SO loved the stuff and I used to horrify him by rinsing off the spoon after making a sandwich rather than licking the stuff off.

Vinegar by itself would be pretty nasty, but I have used apple cider vinegar along with honey and seltzer water to make a tangy soda.

I agree with all the people saying mayonnaise. I don't even find it tolerable in most foods others say it goes good with.

I wouldn't consider it a condiment. I eat it alone. It's more like lettuce, or something, where it's fine by itself, but often will be better paired or mixed with other things. Though sauerkraut is more of an "acquired taste" than lettuce.

Honestly, ketchup, as harmless and simple as it sounds.

I really don't mind it's flavor either, but plain, it's a bit overpowering, and I'd have trouble having large doses of it.

I have, many times while drinking, eaten plain: mustard, mayo, horseradish, dozens of hot sauces, wasabi, teriyaki, maple syrup, bbq sauce, any type of salad dressing you can imagine, relish, sour cream/plain yogurt, etc.

Sometimes a turn into a trash compactor. But yeah, something about ketchup...it just doesn't work.
