Recently, I've come to become fond of the Notepad application on my Windows computer and am starting to use it for more and more things, including writing content for my resume, notes for projects, and information storage for other things. The idea of using it to write code has also piqued my interest, but I've yet to try it out. Anyway, it's much more wieldy than Microsoft Word with its obsessive need to think it is smart enough to point out and mark grammatical or spelling mistakes, much like the smart-aleck I used to be and likely still am. It also annoys me by automatically applying unwanted formatting to my input. Now, I feel like I should have been using this during college instead of Word. Anyway, how often do you lot use Windows Notepad or else the plain text processor local to your OS?

I usually install Notepad++. It's about 1000 times more useful than plain Notepad. Especially if you're doing code, because there are plugins that help with formatting various languages.

But for note taking, I use Microsoft OneNote. There are versions available for Windows, Mac and Android and the notes are automatically synced with the Cloud. You can insert pictures and make drawings with a stylus, graphics tablet or the Samsung Note S-pen.

I use it all the time for taking notes and creating outlines, both at home and at work. I only use word for things I'm going to print or present to someone else.

This. I'll use it in lieu of jotting down paper notes if I'm at my computer and have the option to do so, but that's pretty much it.

for actual "notes" I usually use pen and paper, unless it's something I plan to keep updated in the long-term. (list of movies to watch for example).

otherwise, I use notepad practically every day, just not for notes. (mostly as a large temporary text box (a place where you can stick text). also useful to sanitize formatting.)

I use LibreOffice Writer for typing things down on my PC and Word on my phone. I'm always making notes of things and use them to plan my budget and stuff. Planning a budget often saves money for me.

Notepad is all I use. The version of Word that came with my computer has a good chunk of its screen space reserved for ads, so screw that.
