Who do you think is at fault here?

A 13 y/o boy from Pennsylvania will be tried as an ADULT for 1st degree murder after he shot his 9 y/o BROTHER in the HEAD while playing a game of COP AND ROBBERS gone horribly wrong!!

Brayden Leroy Wright from Waynesboro was denied bail after being charged with first degree criminal homicide and second degree aggravated assault as the 2 were seen to be playing together outside their home at 6am

The teen told officers he went to fetchone of the 2 9mm handguns that his dad kept in the living room COUCH during the game and it appeared Brayden said he became angry when his brother was "not complying with his commands" as he was the officer in the game..

He told police how he then put the gun on his brother's head as he lay on the couch watching Youtube videos and then pulled the trigger

Brayden admitted to police that he knew there was a round in the chamber of the pistol and that he "further related he pressed the muzzle of the gun to the back left side of the victim's head and squeezed the trigger. He related he did this because the victim was not complying with the victim for not listening ot him"

Mark Snyder, the father explained the presence of the unsecured and loaded guns in the house as being for "home protection" where Brayden then put it back in the couch and called 911

By the time parademics arrived, they said the bullet went straight through his skull and was bleeding severely and in cardiac arrest and died in hospital.

A Gofundme account has been set up for funeral expenses and LEGAL FEES along with counselling for the children

The boys guardians are NOT facing any charges..as they say this was truly an "accident"

Who do you think is at fault here?

It seems like you have intent and it sounds like cold-blooded shit, but the people really at fault are the parents for not securing their weapons... I think? idk, the question becomes would he have been homicidal without the gun. And I'm kinda thinking that anybody who would execute their brother like that might not need a gun. Granted, 13 is still pretty damn young and there's reduced awareness, impulse control, etc, especially among boys, but it's hard not to read this story and think of it as an execution.

It's also a little crazy that they out a kid like that, whereas most other developed nations provide the identity of much older minors.

While I'm not fond the foster system, I'm not sure those other kids will be safe with those parents...

Both. Though the core responsibility lies with the father for failing to properly secure a firearm and to educate his children in safe and responsible treatment of firearms, the early teen should be expected to know better than to do what he did, as what happened is much too far to be considered a simple accident.

This is too fucked up for me to be sympathetic. It's much better that a family that fucked up blows itself apart than to last long enough to destroy anyone else's family.

This.

Futhermore, I expect child endangerment and neglect charges. Ive seen parents get hit with those for waaaaay less than this. My dad and I would go hunting when I was 13. Other than for cleaning, and when hunting, those fire arms never left the gun safe. We never knew where the key was but you can rest assured it was somewhere high up and hidden. He had rifles for hunting, and pistols for home protection.

This kids father had TWO pistols in the couch!?!?? Seriously!? No charges!? Come on!

Agent Reynolds, I'm Agent Swanson. Welcome to the CIA. You've been assigned to operation Long Game. Your mission is to father 2 children. At the age of 14 the older child will get involved with drugs and owe some people money. Those people will try to abduct the younger child as leverage and that's when we move in. Remember, if your cover is blown it could endanger your real wife and child. You're leaving for Pennsylvania immediately.

A 13 y/o boy from Pennsylvania will be tried as an ADULT
Agent Swanson, how much money did you waste on this operation?

Oh, THAT part is ridiculous. I guess I somehow missed it (probably because of the caps). While I can understand the concept of making exceptions regarding the age of majority, there's really no point in having an age of majority if you're going to try 13 y/os as adults. Granted, I imagine the charges will be reduced during a plea deal.

For comparison, the cop who was on record saying he'd explicitly shoot a protestor that came to his home through the door w/o a 2nd thought that went on to kill a fellow cop knocking on his door that he mistook for a threat by shooting him through the door w/o first verifying his ID...

Sounds like this 13 year old has a more accurate view of the police than many adults....

Both are wrong. The father for leaving the gun out like that and the son, because he knew exactly what would happen. Maybe he should get a less harsh sentence because there has to be something going on for him to think like that.

Although, I think 13 is the point where a child should be able to be left at home alone, and knows how to access the guns to deal with an intruder. But they should also know at that age that you NEVER point a gun at someone unless you intend to kill them. If not, then they aren't mature enough to be left unsupervised at all.

I think 13 is about the age where kids can be mature enough to know how to handle a gun yes. Not all 13 year olds of course. I also think that children should not be left alone at home until they are mature enough to handle a gun. I think being able to use deadly force against an intruder is a crucial aspect of being able to be left home alone.

You're not an American from America so you don't understand our American way of life in America.

But realistically speaking, the children of gun-owners can be taught to shoot from a young age even though they can't legally own a firearm until 18. I live in a gun-hating state and I still see photos on FB from friends of friends where they'll be at a gun range (I *think* it was a gun range, unless they have a set-up at their home) with their preteen. And of course hunters will bring their kids with them from a young age.
