Ok so say you're in a scenario where person A(a good friend) tells you that they were raped by person B(also a good friend). Then later that same day you meet up with person B and they tell you about how they had to kick person A out of their house because they were very intoxicated and kept making passes at them despite having told them they were not interested. Who do you believe? Let's say this scenario happened the previous night and you happened to meet up or run into both of them the following day.

Honestly, this wraps things up for me. People who are waiting for the "evidence" to come out...it's never coming. Even if this did happen, the only evidence that could possibly exist is for the parents or Adam's other siblings to testify.

Unless this mother is an absolute monster of a human being (which is unlikely, I can buy a rapey brother, but a rapey brother that is completely defended by his mom when he raped his own sister? what about the other siblings?), I am on Adam's side on this one.

Parental denial is depressingly common with rape victims, especially when it comes to incest.

I'd lean on the side of insane money grubbing sister being more likely, but it's certainly possible for early puberty combined with a natural sociopath to produce such events. Regardless if true or not, pretty damn impossible to prove unless the parents/another relative are still alive to testify that it happened or there is some written record.

I'd like to believe anybody who is that much of a sociopath you'd be able to tell after watching them and their conduct for countless countless hours.

I've never seen Adam be anything more than like an insanely decent person.

Yes I want it to be true Adam did nothing, but also it just seems like the most plausible reality. It'll be good they do this lawsuit and get it all sorted out once and for all.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what a person chooses to let the outside world see. If you're a sociopath that cares about what other people think about you, you will never let them see the raw side of you. The only thing you were privy to were curated bits from an editor's viewpoint.

It would also be necessary for the entirety of the Mythbusters group, some of which were around him for a decade, to not see anything weird or strange with his behavior. When the choices are 'this seems fake' or 'Savage is such a meticulous predator despite his own personality that he's fooled the entire world for 40 years', the former seems likely.

As a 3rd grader though? As others have said, you typically have to have been abused to be capable of sex acts as a 3rd grader. That's just not normal behavior. The details just don't add up in this story.

I can't even imagine where a 9 year old gets the idea to anally rape someone...I'm not trying to dismiss anything, but I just can't imagine a 9 to 12 year old doing this stuff. I can see a kid that age sexually abusing someone, but not in that way.

Well there is a difference between molesting and some of these accusations. If someone was like 9 or 12 and like doing inappropriate touch for example I feel like that person is so young it probably doesn't reflect on their character as an adult. At the same time doing something like forced oral sex alone is so horrible it is unforgivable, but it is weird cause like I said I don't think it really reflects on a person as an adult if they did this at like 10...so it is hard to wrap my mind around.

That said I just can't imagine a 9 to 12 year old thinking to do something like forced anal sex. I mean that kid would have to experience sexual trauma themselves, but still it is just something that doesn't make sense to me.

It is one thing if someone did something as a literal child, but if you are 16 raped someone, and didn't try to seriously repent as an adult, fuck that person.

Then you are saying that a 16 year old is an adult, or should at least be held to the standards of one in this instance.

That's perfectly fine and something a lot of people agree with. The law often holds 16 year olds to that standard in serious instances, and I think this fucking applies.

I've met the man. I have my doubts. Especially since these accusations are apparently not new, and the timing for this to go public is also suspicious - Adam has been more politically outspoken on social media, and I have a growing suspicion that the "always believe the accuser" mentality can and eventually will be weaponized.

(Which is not to say that accusers are always - or often - lying, either. There is nuance. We just tend to like easy, black-and-white thinking to rally around.)

As other people have said, rape at such a young age is emblematic of something so utterly broken in an individual - psychologically, chemically, or learned behaviour. If there are no other alleged victims, it's impossible to tell.
