Why? What's the point of allowing people to make racist jokes online? So that other racists have something to laugh at?

are we going to claim that we've never laughed at any racial-based joke in our life? Is this really the claim?

It seems pretty clear that the undertones are

Racial based jokes that are accurate/well executed are fine. PoC and white people can make them and they're all good.

ones that aren't well thought out. simple minded are rallied against, people get indignant and angry.

make no mistake, the anger comes from the quality of the joke (even admittingly so from yourself), not the subject or intent.

It's just a fun way for people to rail again comedy they don't like and feel woke, nothing more than that.

Good. Now ban Infiltration too. Was an absolutely wild feeling when I tuned into a SF tournament once and learned that the top player everyone was cheering for was a domestic abuser.

Last i heard his wife was a bit mental and it was all false accusations. Don't think Infil was found guilty of anything.

He was LITERALLY found guilty of domestic abuse and had to pay a fine. You can look this up in five seconds. How the fuck do people still believe that "he was never found guilty"

from what i understand he grabbed her wrist during a shouting match and bruised it. he paid a fine instead of going to court because it was cheaper. she may or may not have only filed charges because he refused to continue the relationship

this is my understanding. like he didn't savagely beat her or anything and there was a lot more nuance to the entire situation

Yeah, there's no debate that he was found guilty of domestic abuse.

The only debate is around the motives. The argument started apparently because he said he wanted a divorce, and was trying to grab a phone out of her hand and grabbed her wrist/bruised it. She may or may not have filed charges as an attempt to make him call off the divorce.

In the end none of that really matters. He did it and was found guilty.

I can confirm as someone who had to pry away the hands of a girl who was clawing and physically assaulting me that bruising wrists is very easy. All I did was try to pull her hands away from me and apparently they were very bruised after and she tried to tell my friends and family I had abused her even though she was obscenely drunk at the time (when in reality I've never stricken her or abused her in any way).

Radix is right about his assessment of paying a fine. I don't know how Korean courts work, but in America you need to go through hoops to lessen the charge, and even then it's an uphill battle as the victim's words are weighted far more. In America, if you don't think you can fight it very well, you're better off paying the fine.

That said, doing the minimal amount of research on this, I can see why there's confusion. Korean documents are very sealed with little information. And it does appear there's a lot of misconception floating around.

I'm not defending the dude if he is an actual abuser, because I don't know enough about this, but I'm just laying out the reality of how this can go down sometimes with the information I have.

Edit: I also wanted to mention that I don't see any reports outside of bruising. Because of how easy it is to bruise wrists, I would say that if her wrist was sprained, pulled, or broken then there's zero debate he's an abuser, because that would show there's entirely too much force and strength behind it to just be someone grabbing someone's wrist.

Although it does appear Capcom told him to go away for an agreed amount of time, there's no way this guy will ever rehabilitate himself is there.
There's no redemption story in play here.

An abuser like him shouldn't really be allowed to make a living in a scene that is trying to clean up it's image.

Just to be clear, I wasn't found guilty of anything.

I paid a fine for a summary charge of harassment (which is essentially the same as what Infiltration had done, more or less). The felony and misdemeanor charges were dropped though. To be found guilty of anything, I would have had to go to trial. It never went to trial because they dropped the major charges.

Summary offenses are on the same level as, say, a speeding ticket.

Actually, further clarification.

My summary charge of harassment isn't essentially the same as the domestic abuse charge. Domestic abuse in the US is misdemeanor (which was one of the charges that were dropped).

I have no idea how anything works in Korea and I won't even attempt to presume as much. I can't tell if their domestic abuse charge is on the level of a summary charge or if it's something you have to plead guilty to like a misdemeanor. But if I didn't have as much going for my case as I did, I would have been completely fucked and may have had to plead guilty to that charge if they didn't drop it entirely simply because I just wouldn't be able to convince them that I wasn't involved in a domestic abuse situation.

That's why I like to be more realistic in a situation like this which appears to have a ton of nuance to it. There's a reason it isn't as simple as people unanimously agreeing he's an abuser, and it's also why I look at a bruised wrist and go... that's extremely mild. Again, if there's more than a bruised wrist, let me know. But that's all I could find when I did cursory research.

Though if Biscuit was an esports player and the only thing people talked about was a personal life incident, then if you're Capcom, you probably wouldn't want to use him in promotional material for an upcoming tournament.

Yes and no. They were going to ban him for a determined amount of time, so he self-imposed it himself.

Basically how NCAA teams self-impose penalties on themselves when they know punishment is coming to try and lessen the penalties.
