Part of the problem is the Dem party is basically two parties in one. One is the establishment Dems who have yet to learn their lessons, but will push their choices on their base as hard as they can. The other Dems are non-loyalists who lean on the party since the country is so entrenched in a flawed two-party system that branching off to make or join a third party has become unrealistic over the past century or more; and they prefer Dems over Repubs despite hating the establishment Dems quite some ways.

Furthermore, I am not only reminded of what Lewis Black once said about the Dems basically spending all their time smelting what the Repubs have dealt, but also a parallel to a thought I had about the Assassin's Creed games. Sure, you might get the occasional guy that's effective against the other side, but the organization said guy is sided with is full of idiots that are unable to hold on to what they gain.

This is why we need to break the two-party cycle, but we won't because the cycle is the way it is, and it is the way it is because people won't break it no matter how much we need to, and again no breakage will occur because of the gordian knot that is the two-party system.

This. Nobody was prepared for the virus. The protests? Flatten them as soon as they start. Oh but then fool ass social media is like 'you can't do that' so the blame is on them instead of the pres. This is why none of you are qualified to argue, get common sense. How is this a Trump problem? When things were shut down you had citizens still doing whatever they pleased. Because Trump managed to be worse than useless in reacting to the virus and instead actively sabotaged his administration's own response.

When he was first briefed on the virus, did he start ramping up PPE and ventilator production to meet demand? No. Did he start putting together a contact-tracing program to help limit the spread and a testing program to identify the infected? No. Did he warn the populace of the coming disaster and encourage practices like good hygiene, social distancing, and other measures that could've helped contain the disease when it was still in its infancy? No.

Instead, he did nothing. Actually, nothing would have been an improvement, because that wouldn't have been actively making things worse. Trump spent the 10 weeks in between his first briefing on COVID and the point where the disease grew too big for him to ignore constantly downplaying the virus, insisting it was no big deal and it was under control and it was just a couple guys from China and it would never appear in the US and it was all just a big Democrat hoax to make him look bad. Hell, even now we're seeing the effects of this, as the states that followed his urging to open up their economies early are seeing surging case numbers that are overloading hospitals and may necessitate a second shutdown.

Donald Trump - the man in charge of the federal executive, tasked with responding to crises like this and mitigating their impact - responded almost as badly as he possibly could have to this disaster. Short of actively trying to get more people infected, I can't think of too many ways he could have responded worse.

Bullshit there wasn't - if you think that's true, it's because you were sitting around with your thumb up your ass instead of paying attention (much like Donnie has been doing since he got into office).

Know who was? The Democrats. As early as January, they were telling Trump to declare COVID-19 a national health emergency, while Democratic Senators were pushing Trump's health secretary on whether additional congressional resources were needed to combat the pandemic.

They knew what was up; Trump refused to acknowledge it until a stock market meltdown forced his hand, by which point it was too late. Had he actually been on the ball, the US could have had similar infection and death rates to South Korea, meaning we would be looking at tens of thousands of cases and less than a thousand dead, as opposed to millions of cases and 110,000 dead and counting.

The pres's first job is not to incite a state of panic. It was really more of a local gov't thing, based on regional numbers. Obviously some places were hit harder. NY tried to ask for WAY more supplies than necessary.

Stop acting like the bad guys knew better. They played their cards in just such a way to make Trump look bad. We already knew that any time something productive was about to happen they'd pout and not do their job.

They wouldn't need to - you need to put orders in at the companies that already make those products so they can ramp up production and make use of that lead time.

As an example, Prestige America contacted the federal government in January with an offer to re-open four dormant manufacturing lines and start producing 1.7 million N95 masks a week. The government turned him down, then wound up with mask shortage two months later.

The juxtaposition of these two sentences is hilarious. NY had - and still has, though that will likely soon change - the biggest outbreak in the entire country by a longshot, and many of the deaths there were eminently preventable if the federal government had, y'know, done their fucking jobs and actually provided badly needed medical supplies.

This is where I stand these days.

Its been years since I met a calm, kind, curious, hopeful, objective Trump supporter. Basically since the election. The only people left supporting him are disgusting.

I'm living with four of them right now, my girlfriends extended family. They stomp around the house, scream at each other, chain smoke in front of an old woman on oxygen, lazy to the point of rarely showering or leaving the house, never wash their hands even during the pandemic, have no friends and only hang out with their own family and that's all they talk about, if they aren't talking shit about their own family they're loving on trump and talking shit about "the liberals", fox News is always on in the background, all they eat are prepackaged garbage (when i moved in they didn't even have simple things like a peeler or a cutting board), they often have family come over with stolen stuff that they buy because its "supporting the family" even though they're stealing and buying drugs with the money, sometimes there's blood all over the toilet and shit on the toilet paper and no one cares like its normal and I have to clean it up. I could go on for hours. A relative stops by daily because they sleep in a garage somewhere because he drank himself into debt and they bring their 2 dogs over that they never feed so the dogs eat cat turds because they have nothing else to eat. Yep.

I work with a trump supporter too. She's the only one at work. She comes in high on coke and sometimes pills. She can hardly function. She's a delivery driver living out if her car becauae she spends all the money on drugs. Shes been homeless for months, even though she makes more than me. The owner of the shop won't fire her because we barely have anyone to work. Even though customers have called and complained they saw her hitting curbs and rails multiple times. She refuses to do most of her duties, and I'm the only person who makes her do them.

The other trump supporters I know well are three families living in the same three bedroom house with 5 kids. They binge drink every single night and smash beer cans onto their foreheads. They have shotgun beer contests instead of just sipping a beer. One kid has been ignored so much and grown up in such a fucked up environment that hes four and cant speak in full sentences. They just shrug and wonder why. Maybe its because he learned language from drunk people

All of these people ive described have one thing in common as well, theyre all racist AF.

Pretty much every Trump supporter i know is a piece of shit doing what they want at someone else's expense.

That said, I don't know how many you're suggesting constitute "a lot", but I'll point out that a full 31 democratic senators - aka about two thirds of their entire caucus - sent a letter to Alex Azar on January 27, urging action on the coronavirus and asking if any congressional support was needed to help fight the virus.

Biden also, in spite of his own diminishment of faculties, isn't showing so many signs of frontotemporal dementia. We probably don't have to worry as much about emergency routine check-ups with a doctor or any number of officers guiding Biden down some stairs like he's going to take a tumble. Don't get me wrong, I do not want Biden and never have, but he might be able to hold it together for a moment while in office; he might also pick a decent VP we don't have to worry about anywhere as much as the most anti-lgbt+ slice of white bread to have ever walked the halls of the White House.

Signs are pointing to him either already having had one, or else it's a symptom of many of dementia in which control of his body is shutting down at a rapid rate. What makes this worse is 1) he's allowed to continue to make a mess of things when he needs proper care away from the limelight, even if he's a despicable piece of human filth, and 2) when his reign of ugliness and inferiority complex is over, his followers and defenders will say we're not allowed to criticize any part of him because he's a sick old man, and how dare we do such a horrible thing?

The man has clearly been ill since his 2016 campaign, and it's getting worse. If for nothing else, this should be evident for the case that he's not fit for office, nor making any major decisions really. Tie into this how I never liked him since I learned of the guy in the 90s, and yeah, sure, I wouldn't have wanted him in office if he was sound of mind and body; but he's not. He has lost his limited capacity for words, resulting in repetition in what he does say, he has a hard time walking down stairs without aid, going as far as to favor one side of his body over the other as if something is wrong with the latter, his thoughts and ramblings are departed from reality, which is admittedly difficult to separate between legit dementia and Fox News regurgitation in general, and the decisions he's been making have been dangerous at best for countless people across the country, if not the world. Stepping down should be the responsible thing to do.
