Unfortunately, a second lockdown probably won't work, given that objection to that will be even stronger than the first time around. Needing it is likely to be inevitable, but I doubt compliance rates will be high enough to actually help with the rise in cases. It's going to be a mess.

I saw a post on facebook from an ER doctor talking about a lady who accused him of falsifying her COVID test results because the disease wasn't real, while he was frantically trying to prevent her from dying of multiple organ failure as a result of her rampant COVID infection. It's kind of surreal and thoroughly terrible.

I was going to say, I'm still not done with the first yet.

Maybe enough idiots will die the average IQ in America will jump 50 points lol. Another benefit might be lower unemployment after this is over.

But seriously, we failed to react soon enough thanks the idiot at the top, and once we did only the states most affected by covid took it seriously. Although I have to admit my state of New Hampshire actually did it right even though our governor is an even bigger idiot than Trump.

I really do understand those people that need to get back to making enough to properly take care of their family but the whole I'm bored, stop the lock-down movement all deserve to get sick just so they might get a clue.

Looking at the CDC's numbers, I really don't see why there would be. Almost 1/4 of all deaths in the US are in New York City (17,002 of 73,693). That's almost 7 times the entire state of CA (2,485). Also, almost 60% of the deaths are among those at least 75 years old (41,164 of 68,998). The age breakdown is a week behind the breakdown by state. Just looking at the numbers, this seems to me to be more of an issue of highly concentrated population centers and the elderly.

Georgia has already been found to be covering up its numbers, which means a lot of other states are doing this as well.

hell, a lot of the worlds nations are covering up their numbers so not to make their people panic.

not to mention Trump has encouraged the stop / slow down of testing because he doesnt like the results. The reason the numbers have been slowing is because they arent testing anymore.

but yeah its too late for America and they would never allow a 2nd lockdown. A good 1/4 of the country literally thinks this thing is a hoax. Fucking pathetic

We are.

covid cases were down 80% in the hospital I work at, towards the end of the lockdown.
in about a week after the lockdown lifted they doubled.
people dont learn very fast...
seriously just wash you hands, dont touch your face (unless you JUST washed and didn't touch anything), and cover your cough.
Its not a super virus, we are just incredibly unhygienic as a species.

Im an essential worker, so I never got to partake in lockdown. But if I had to, Id be fine. I have tons of shit around the apartment to keep myself entertained. And we have these amazing technologies to still keep in touch with people even without seeing them in person

some countries were literally given fixed incomes to stay inside. But Trump refused to give any money or enforce any lockdown.

Does Trump even have the authority to enforce a lockdown? Is enforcing law part of the Executive branch?

Did Congress pass a bill for him to sign prior to the $2T one he did sign a month or so ago? I might be wrong, but I don't think the President can just give out money without it first coming from the Legislative branch.

I am ready. I will be OK staying home. I can't believe how many people thinks this is all made up. Some of our schools are mulling over what to do next fall when they open. Many parents are going to start homeschooling. One larger district has announced that they will have teachers to support the homeschooling alongside regular classes....or as regular as they can be with whatever new guidelines we have.

That shit gets old, eventually. I mean, I haven't seen my family in months. And even though I can call them or whatever, I still feel like I don't get to spend anytime with them. Nebraska has done a grand total of 88,350 tests since March 8th, in a state with a population of 1.9 million. That's just 1,118 tests per day on average. No way in hell you can track an outbreak like this testing just 0.05% of the population per day!
