Thought it would be a hobby I'd have for quite some time. This is the first time I didn't buy a main Pokemon game. My friends play Modern Warfare from time to time and I get bored of it very quickly. My brother also let me borrow his N64, I played the first chapter of Paper Mario and haven't picked it up since.

What about you guys?

Got bored about 10 years ago. At this point, I have the most fun playing bro games like NBA 2k, Madden, Halo, etc that I can play quick matches and then turn the game off.

I haven't beaten a game's single player mode in about 8 years
You aren't missing much. The game stories of today seem like copy n pastes of each other. Same game, different title screen.

I lost it for a long time. I havent really played games much since about 2014 with the exception of when breath of the wild came out. But I've spent more time gaming the past month than the last 6 years combined excluding BotW. So if you're losing interest, don't try to force it and just take your break. If you truly love it you'll get the itch again. Just kind of comes with getting older imo.

I got back into gaming after about 10 years. Getting good games dirt cheap is a great feeling. Just started MGS V and it's epic. For $6 it's worth every penny.

I started off with BO4 MP but getting quite bored of it after a year. Just beat GTA V finally about 3 weeks ago.

I'm actually enjoying storymode games again compared to online. The online community is kinda annoying. I can't stand most people. I dled Warzone but don't care to play it.

Also I'm taking my time playing games and not spending hours on end. Work keeps me busy and life in general especially when my kids are here. When I'm free and in the mood I'll game instead of watching something. I'd rather accomplish a goal around the house than waste time beating a mission in a game when there something more fulfilling to do.

I felt that way and skipped almost the entire PS3/360/Wii era kinda. I owned a Wii and played mario galaxy and TP that's it. A handful of bland PS3 games. My wife has a PS4 but I tried a few games over the years and everything I tried never really captivated me much unfortunately. I bought a Switch a year ago because I wanted to try Odyssey and ya it was fun but I wasnt in love with it.

On a complete whim I bought Hollow Knight one day browsing the eshop and HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.
I played one day for almost 12 hours. I didnt... understand why I was feeling like a kid again.

Then it was instantly Celeste, cuphead, Ori, blasphemous, shantae, cave story, blaster master

I realized that Indie games were what Inhad been longing for. It honestly felt like rediscovering the SNES all over again. I dont buy or play "big time" releases at all these days I have no interest in fire emblem or modern zelda.

The indie scene revitalized my love of gaming.

Sometimes I feel the same way. The newest Pokmon game really disappointed me, tbh. So did literally every final fantasy game after X. I thought the PS4 has a really weak game line up for RPG fans and everything now is a port or a remake.

Last game I bought before getting a PS4 last year was GTA IV back when it came out. I forced myself to play it and stopped early on. Now that I'm back into gaming I still have no desire to play that game.

I hear GoW is good. Looking forward to eventually getting that.

I used to like a lot of games but now I find myself playing only japanese games because western developers have pretty much become people who are aspiring film makers or people who want to use the game to preach some ideal rather than focus on a fun experience. It's pretty disappointing, especially Sony games, I blame Gacha for this, people saw that you can do the bare minimum and make millions of dollars so all creativity died and people became dishearten and quit leaving only the former mentioned people making games now.

I have an Xbox One and a Switch, the Switch has been collecting dust.

I'll take back my statement on BotW being the last game I bought. I forgot I bought Three Houses.

I plugged mine in last year. It's rough. Mostly cause the controller. But a lot of games didn't age well either. PS1 has a lot more going for it in modern times.

That's been me since 2015 on and off. I get in certain urges to play games (really got into the Shantae games 2 years ago) but my interest has really gone down since the Wii/PS3/360 era. I can always pop in any Smash Bros. or a retro game and have fun, but these movie games really haven't been doing anything for me, especially since movies have kinda jumped ahead of video games for the most part of the last 5 years.

Breath of The Wild and Smash Ultimate did get me outta the rut, but it just doesn't happen as much these days.

I am really enjoying the new Animal Crossing though.

For me it was the opposite actually. I went through my video game depression from around 2005 to around 2012 and my girlfriend randomly getting me a Wii U for Christmas made me fall in love with gaming again. It was my first Nintendo console id owned since N64 and the simplicity of Nintendo games reminded me why I loved video games in the first place, they didnt need to be rated M super dark and gritty open world murderfests to be good.

I had a N64. Got a Wii eventually but it was extremely short lived and I sold it. I don't know if I'll ever get back into Nintendo. I still play NES Mario games but the newer stuff after Mario 64 never appealed to me. Smash Bros is cool I'd enjoy online that's about it. I had the Wii only for Brawl. Don't feel like spending a lot on a Switch just to game Ultimate online.

its probably my biggest problem. I grew up playing the SNES/N64/GameCube and I had a massive library for them. Eventually bought an Xbox for NHL/Wrestling but also played GTA, Red Dead, and CoD. There are a few games that I really enjoyed on my Xbox thats not series that I just mentioned. I tried giving games a chance but just not into it.

Same, for me it's probably laziness though. I have to do shit when I play games, but TV shows and movies I can just sit back and relax. I like making games though and learning about the development process, strangely enough.

there was a moment not too long ago that i focused a lot of my life on my work/career and relationships. at that point, i'd say i lost interest in video games, just the same way. i felt it wasn't a good use of my time.

but as i got more comfortable with work, and it became more routine and monotonous, i found myself going back to games (and movies, especially) as an escape.

now they've taken a front seat again, and even moreso because of the quarantined world.

Part of the problem is you have the Xbox One. Theres a severe lack of interesting games aside from a few multiplats and most of the player base sticks to Call of Duty or sports games. Plenty of good games have come out since 2017. Just find what would interest you and go from there.
