Just make it universal to make payments go out as fast as possible and fucking take 1000$ extra in next years tax return season from anyone making more then 500k a year.

Or even deal with getting the money back later.

I can think of several circumstamces where a person currently earning or attempting to earn a living wouldn't have a taxable wage in either '18 or '19.

Probably not a lot of people but just imagine being newly released prisoner who just got laid off from the road crew. 18 year old with no parental help new to work force. Someone leaving disability.

Very isolated cases, but literally the people that need the help most.

Food stamps is easy enough to reapply for. But most every other program takes a lot of effort to acquire. And generally if you're working full time even at a place like McDonald's, you're above the threshold for help unless you have kids.

fuck the 2019 tax returns. If you have proof of recent employment you should get the money. Plain and simple. Someone might have been injured during 2018 or 2019 and that person might have just been laid off. Is it fair for that person to not get his check??

I owe 5800 to the fed and 1400 to the state. That 1200 brings it down to 4600, so i have that going for me. 1200 is not enough

I mean even a supposed universal payment would run into both political and adminstrative issues bro, I'm just laying out the argument. I don't care that much. Yeah, but this is mostly about helping people in lower income brackets who are already working full time and barely scraping by.

$1000/month is way less than what I make, but I need the money. If I dont get my checks because they base the stimulus plan on time that I was out of work, then I wont get my fair share of the money.

these checks need to be paid based on who is employed in the past calendar year; not two years ago when it was fucking impossible to find work

Those who make more money tend to have more expensive bills. Sadly the more money people make the more lavish houses and cars they feel they must have.

Also cost of living plays a role i suppose. I make like 32k a year my same profession in california makes 90k a year. But there is a helluva cost of living diference.
