I begin working from home full time tomorrow. I already did two half days a week because of the kids but now I'm here full time. Office decided anyone that can work from home should, not to mention I have to home school the kids when they are here.

Yay, or something.

Starting my 2nd full week of remote now. People seem way more lively on chat which is good.

My county just shut all malls and businesses with a few exceptions. And no groups in public of more than 4.

yea my restaurant is in the same boat starting Thursday (brother is the owner, im GM)

we have a food truck which at this point might make enough money to cover rent, but with it being takeout only there's really only need for one cook and one person to take the orders

Just did my first online tutoring sessions today. It was...awkward. Nothing says awesome like trying to type trig identities into plain text over and over and over.

I've been working from home since 2014, so this isn't much of a shift for me. Most of the people at my company in the area already worked remotely, so I'm really lucky there.

Yeah its gonna be bad for us in hospitality! Here's to hoping for a stimulus package, or suspending payments on multiple things

I've been working remotely from home for 3 days now and I'm already going kind of stir crazy. I don't know how the hell people can do this full-time.

Same. Especially because it's not like I can go to a cafe and work or go out for drinks when the day is over. I feel like my work day never ends now.

i'm technically allowed to work from home now but i haven't started it yet

Technically I can do pretty much anything I need to do remotely (especially once I set up my monitors and stuff properly) but I suspect I'll be less efficient. Working from home in the evenings and weekends is always less efficient than if I just work in the office.

I think it's a mindset thing - I just find it hard into get into work mode in that environment.

10th work day in a row WFH. Despite maintaining my 9-5 work hours, it is starting to feel like I'm working more than usual because there's no physical separation between my work and living spaces.

The #1 danger of remote work is overwork for sure. If you learn nothing else from remote it should be to make your boundaries between work and not-work much stronger. It's not a problem that's unique to remote at all, it's just more explicit. And the skill applies very well in the office too.

I still have some trouble with it after 4 years of remote. Often what I do is when I work extra one day, intentionally or not, then take that out of my next day. Have a 2 hour lunch break or something. It helps you get used to strict train boundaries, as well as flexible hours, which is another huge benefit that applies in the office too.

Another great thing is that if you do your 8 hour workload in 4-6 hours in the office, it feels pretty weird to just leave at 3pm. But at home you can easily do that, and no one cares. So then you can just do 4-6 hours a day instead of your usual 8. That's the real upgrade. Eventually you realize you can do the same thing in the office too (to a lesser extent).

Day 2 WFH / Day 1 Homeschooling the kids:

Actually got all the school work completed relatively quickly. We started school at 7:30 and were completely done by 10. We'll except for Win's reading but she didn't need supervision for that. All in all it's not so bad, thankfully I'm only dealing with kindergarten and first grade, I can't imagine how much more intense it can be for older grades.

This only set me back two hours really with work but losing those two early hours completely killed my entire mindset and add on the fact that even though the world is ending everyone needs to close on their house immediately, the rest of the day was a total shit show.

With all that said I'm extremely thankful my industry is still thriving (for the moment) and I'm afforded the opportunity to still work full days remotely.

the lack of separation between work and home is a bit jarring, especially since I don't have an official home office setup.
