Not exactly. I do feel like I'm not very attached to being a guy and would probably be just as happy (or just as miserable lately) as a girl but at the same time, I don't feel wrong as a guy or like I need to change or anything. If the tech was free and perfect so you could just switch overnight and be completely indistinguishable I'd definitely try out being a girl for a while.

Sounds a bit like me. I'm non-binary and genderqueer - I often feel a mixture of genders or that I don't fit into any of the boxes. Some days I dress to look typically feminine, others I dress typically masculine, much of the time I just mix it up. I'd be happier if I could wear a binder at least some of the time, but it isn't really an option - G cups and a deformed ribcage (Marfanoid habitus - when I'm lying on my back my ribs look like a wave) kinda make it not very feasible.

No kidding...

What you wear or feel best wearing doesn't define what your gender is or is not. It's how you feel on the inside. What you wear is just how you choose to express that.

It can be, but unless you provide a definition (either explicitly by telling us what it means or implicitly by constructing it according to the existing morphological rules of English), you can really expect anyone to know what you're talking about.

Nobody explicitly or implicitly explained "cis" and lots of people took it as a tryhard LGBT-formulated insult.

Glarb is as legitimate as cis, that should be a good marker that it's not appropriate for normal conversation.

And not even like the fancy university organic chemistry. Cis/Trans is covered in early high school chem, basically as soon as you start looking at how organic molecules can be arranged.

Not in the context of gender. Just as somebody can be called Dean and somebody can be The Dean, the same scribble can be two different words.

Cis and trans is not applicable to gender, particularly when you make claims of gender not being binary.

That doesn't mean that you should assume the prefix "hydro-" doesn't mean the term has something to do with water. Yes, English is terrible for assigning multiple conflicting meanings to single terms, but basic morphological analysis of an unfamiliar word should follow Occam's Razor: If the new word can be interpreted according to its morphological face value, then that's the most sensible interpretation. Any deviation from that interpretation should be based on further context or explicit clarification, not presuming that it's wrong for no reason.

Kyuubi4269 posted...
Cis and trans is not applicable to gender

"Transsexual" and "transgendered" are well-established medical terms that were coined based on the use of the prefix "trans-" to mean "something else" or "across." That doesn't stop being the case because you decided to say so. Using "cisgendered" as the opposite of "transgendered" simply reflects the use of "cis-" as the opposite of "trans-" in other contexts, a use that is based on the terms' Latin definitions. You can say that it doesn't apply all you want, but if it makes intuitive sense to anyone that understands words, it's a perfectly fine term.

Kyuubi4269 posted...
particularly when you make claims of gender not being binary.

That is an argument that can be (and often is) made in favour of ditching the cis/trans distinction, but the prefix "trans-" doesn't have to imply diametric opposition. You can be transported across the street or you can be transported across the country. The degree of difference is not dictated by the prefix "trans-", but rather by the context. Using "transgendered" to communicate that a person's current gender differs from the one they started with is quite morphologically valid, if not necessarily consistent with most people's immediate interpretation.

I'd argue theres a big difference between using an entirely new word, and combining an existing word with an existing prefix. It's very easy to understand how to apply cis to the word gender especially with the opposite "transgender" already being a word. Ultimately language is based on agreement. If enough people agree the word is a word, then it effectively is. You're like 10 years late to try and fight against people using cis as a term for gender identity. There's nothing offensive about the term, it's purely descriptive.
