Unfortunately, it's not the same. I tried it once and arrows were just too weak, enemies ended up running towards e with like 20 arrows sticking out from their eyesockets.

Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey are fucking great for this.

I'd recommend Origins over Odyssey for sniping, the bows (weapons in general) don't feel as strong in Odyssey.

They each have their drawbacks. In Origins, you're limited by how many arrows you can carry for your predator bows. In Odyssey, you're much more reliant on abilities and loot effects to cause real damage.

I really enjoyed the sniping in the original Deus Ex game, too. Stealth in that game is really satisfying in general, especially once you get the good old DT.

Yes but stealth is not a long term solution generally. It's mostly just to get close enough to ambush something. The bandit camps stealth is typically just long enough to disable the alarms. You get found out very easily.

Dragon Age Origins. But it's really slow and boring. Arrow of slaying is the only bow skill that can one shot normal enemies and it has a 60 second cool down.

Breath of the Wild. You should be able to afford the stealth costume almost as soon as you find the first town. You'll need to sell literally everything you own, but it's there >_>

It is though... Headshots are a thing in Dark Souls 1. They bypass enemy Poise, causing a guaranteed stun. You can cause hilarity by chaining those shots together until enemies die. The only 'difficult' part is that the Ring of Fog is tied up with the forest covenant, instead of being handed to you as the Thieves Ring in Boletaria Palace of Demon's Souls. Even some bosses like Quelaag are susceptible to headshots, which in her case is her human body.

I'm playing it now and find it's also just easier to use the melee stealth kill. Shooting arrows tends to raise the alarm.

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War have stealth archer elements but it isn't feasible.

Never played HZD, but that talk was reminding me of the Far Cry series. There are extra rewards to be earned for taking enemy Outposts undetected in that series. A combination of hiding in bushes, using thrown rocks to lure enemies out of position, and either melee takedowns or arrows to the head tends to work well.

Honestly, first time I tried Far Cry 5, I tried stealthy and thought the game was boring.

2nd attempt, I stopped worrying about staying stealthy and it became infinitely more fun.

Thief series if playing on below the hardest difficulty (killing often results in game over on hardest)

And Dishonored series if you don't care about the level of chaos (crossbow)

Both games feature a type of arrow that stuns/incapacitates instead of kill. Both have a very very high reliance on stealth and mobility.

Baldur's Gate has an Archer class that can Hide in Shadows.

Not going to be fully stealth-based though.

i'm really just talking dark souls 1, and even then, you've still gotta find someone inept enough to get hit by it.

when i run into bow-only players i try to get them to use a different weapon.

You should also check out the Sniper Elite series. You're a sniper in WW2, whole thing is about stealth. Also has a really cool X-ray kill cam for shots.

This is a pretty authentic experience and probably not the "Skyrim" vibe TC is going for.

No, this tactic works fine in PvE until you get to the boss room and cant be sneaky with the bosses.

Might be able to do it in Kingdom Come Deliverance, but archery is pretty hard (no reticle sucks).
