Someone who espouses the more extreme range of feminist beliefs, and who are hateful of trans women for any range of reasons - saying they "don't belong" and "aren't women" and what have you. If you've seen an internet asshole bitch about SJWs and feminazis, this group garners the same sort of heat from other feminists, social justice types and just all-round decent people.

Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist.

Basically, a label ascribed to feminist activists who don't buy the notion that transwomen are equivalent to women. I don't think I've ever heard one calls themselves a TERF, so it seems to be more of a cudgel used by trans-activists and trans-rights allies to attack and ridicule them.

They can range from reasonable, but maligned, to pretty crazy.

The problem I have with the word TERF getting tossed around is that there's people are that legitimately just TEFs...like radfems are their own "grouping" of people and being TE doesn't automatically make you an RF...

So, a bit off topic, but I think the reason you get more "the left eating their own" (if you want to use that kind of terminology) occurrences is because of the nature of progressivism.

Progress implies a continuous push, so with each generation of new activists, they're a little more progressive than the generation before them. So, the more progressive generations will eventually look back at the less progressive generation preceding them and shit on them for not being progressive enough.

Compared to conservatives that are mostly about maintaining an agreed upon status quo. Or, occasionally, even a regressive push.
