Great how this guy has made multiple good movies and dudes who have top 5 film lists of star wars and superhero films get mad at him

There are legitimate complaints against the movie that totally necessitate the level of backlash normally reserved for child abuse, police brutality and chicken sandwiches, and I'm going to wipe the foam from my mouth and tell you as calmly as I can why you are not allowed to like the movie anymore. Diversity is neither inherently good or bad. Those who make it their life goal to make literally everything diverse can lose the plot, and people too worried that things are "too diverse" when it's a little outside of their comfort zone don't help either.

Was mauled by a Wampa and almost died on the cold saved by Han
Was shot down by an AT-AT
Vader smoked him in a duel and cut off hand, completely destroyed him emotionally by dropping the truth about him being Luke's father
Hell even in RotJ he gets shot and the hand and electrocuted, saved by Papa Vader

Rey has no moments of weakness like this and don't need no help cause she's am empowered woman. She is a Mary Sue

She's shown as incredibly gullible, easy to trick, easily starstruck, constantly having crises of confidence and lacking self-worth, getting captured twice, and more or less relying on the support of her newfound friends and parent figure all throughout episodes 7 and 8.

I will agree that 7 and 8 kind of made the First Order into a He-Man villain level threat to the main characters, albeit successfully wiping out the Republic capital and wiping out almost the entirety of the Resistance, but is her not getting her butt kicked yet really that critical of a difference between her and Luke?

And added spoiler tags just in case.

And that is a fair criticism. But that doesn't make her a Mary Sue, which is more or less meant to imply an almost self-insert everything is easy pretty pretty special princess type of character.
