He gave some generic PR-safe answer about it happening soon and including all different kinds of people. The Asian character was added and relegated to a minor role not only to appease the SJW crowd but also for the big Chinese market. Rian Johnson unfortunately wrote a script in which airtime for Rose & Finn was split with Poe who was made into a main character. Also Finn & Rey who already had some groundwork for their relationship to build on would have been a good match but the script was for both of them to be separated for the entire film.
