Lately, the only thing that I have been eating is a couple of granola bars a day and one banana a day, and you know, I havent died or been hospitalized from malnulrishment, and I dont feel like I need to at all.

I haven't checked my weight at all, but I I reckon Ive lost about 20 pounds the last few weeks or so. Where Ive literally eaten the exact things that I've listed within the exception being the occassional fast food run and the occasional refrigerated dinner that mu parents made but I was either at work or in my room playing video games.

But my question is this: if people like me can eat like this and survive off of eating such a little amount of food, than why can't others eat the way I do and lose all that weight that theyve compiled over the years.

Penn, from Penn and teller lost his weight by "resetting" his eating habits by eating nothing but plain roasted potatoes for two weeks then moved to whole veggies.

Eating is a weird thing. The more you eat the more hungry you are. But if you deprive yourself a little bit your body stops craving food, like it entered fasting mode or something. Or is it just me?

Anyway, someone I know online said he used to be fat in high school but lost the weight by simply eating less. Perhaps it really is that simple.

We shouldn't judge others though. Upbringing can play a huge factor.

I wish I could train myself to not need so much food.

I dont necessarily overeat, but Im sure if I didnt have to eat, it would be a lot easier to shrink my gut lol.

Im jealous of these people that can have a very light meal and feel satisfied. I cant not eat though, I hate those hunger pains and Im always moving around at work and need to be nourished.

It's incredibly important to make sure you're getting your vitamins if you do that. Otherwise you might get sick.

supposed to be that you'll "plateau" that way. you'll lose weight at first, but then your body will adjust. and you're also losing more muscle and less fat that way as well, putting you into a worse position overall. supposed to be that there's a "sliding window" of calories to eat such that you'll have a caloric deficit, but not to the point of switching your body into starvation mode. maybe at first it will be 1600-1900 calories, but as you lose weight it will become something more like 1450-1700 calories, etc.

(none of this I have any direct experience with, it's just what is said when you read about it. for me, the most amounts of weight I've lost have usually been from getting sick.)

It depends on what you mean. Technically yes.

If you want to lose weight you absolutely shouldn't starve yourself though. Start a regular exercise routine and cut out junk food, while also ensuring you eat three properly proportioned meals a day. Literally everyone will move towards a healthier weight by doing that, and anyone who claims they can't is lying.

It's important that you continue to eat protein to maintain your muscle mass, and complex carbohydrates for energy. You do need a small amount of fats (particularly Omega-3 fatty acids), and make sure to keep up your hydration.

But diet alone really isn't enough. Your body will adjust itself to the lower food intake and your weight loss with slow or even stop. You need to exercise as well to keep your metabolism up to continue burning calories.

Ideally, you don't want to cut your caloric intake by more than 10% of your daily needs. Do more than that, and your body starts adjusting your metabolism such that your weight loss will slow or even reverse, and you risk damaging other tissues as your body converts them into fat stores. Cut back a little bit while maintaining your activity levels and ensuring you're getting a complete complement of nutrients (nutrient deficiencies will also mess with your metabolism), and you'll lose weight. Just don't expect instant results. This process takes time and requires long-term lifestyle changes, not just some sort of crash diet.

During basic and for like over a year afterwards, I had three properly portioned meals a day, and exercised a lot. And my weight was basically the same. I think it may work for most people. But definitely not all...

Works the same for me. If I'm feeling hungry and work through it, it eventually goes away on its own. To a certain extent you don't need to always give into it but you shouldn't deprive yourself.
