Where's the MAGA alert?! I guess she doesn't look that bad for her age, but she's still her age. It's a virtue-signal that may get positive press yet is unlikely to actually general sales, so if she got selected, it would be more of a #GetWokeGoBroke scenario. However, right now they're getting publicity while still be free to go with a candidate who can sell copies.

Otherwise if she dyed her hair, she'd look a decade younger but I guess that would defeat the idea of trying to show that older women are still attractive... depending on how you look at it.

The other candidates seem more likely to win, including Christie Valdiserri who actually looks better bald which is kinda weird.

It won't really matter. They might throw her on the cover for PR purposes, then airbrush and photoshop the living fuck out of the pictures so she'd look fine even if she looked like an atrocity in the baseline pictures. The era when someone actually has to look good to be on the cover of a magazine has long since passed.

A few years back when it was kind of trendy, nearly every younger woman I ever saw who dyed their hair grey looked much older and far worse because of it.

Yes.

There was a point where you'd kind of just assume magazines like Playboy were doing the "Vaseline Lens" effect to sort of compensate for women who might not be 110% perfect, but then airbrushing became more prevalent, and with the advent of Photoshop almost nothing we see is entirely "real".

We're at the point now where pretty much every form of print media (and digital media as well, honestly) tends to soften features, cover up blemishes and wrinkles, smooth out cellulite, and even potentially shave down bodies that look too "wide".

Almost any woman is going to look good on an SI cover, no matter what they actually look like in real life.

I also think that long gray hair on an old woman is better than short gray hair, because the long hair shows she's not afraid to still try to look feminine. I also feel that old women are better at sex and more interesting to talk with because of their experience, but I don't have much evidence for that.
