well I did that test and got this https://files.catbox.moe/w066pl.png

I can't help but feel like some questions were worded in an ambiguous way considering the options available to choose from. Like for example the very first one:

Oppression by corporations is more of a concern than oppression by governments.

Let's say you think the two are equal? Do you pick strongly disagree? Or does picking strongly disagree mean you think oppression by governments is more of a concern than by corporations?

literally the opposite

every compass test I take puts me very, very slightly up and to the left from the centre. To the point where I'm "centrist" but moving towards the liberal democracy zone

Lean left. I believe in damn near all the ideals presented to the public, don't think most of it is realistic at the unreasonable rate people are pushing for it. Only time I usually agree with conservatives is on gun rights and abortions past 3 months in.

Against: war, government tyranny, corporate tyranny, social violence.

Everything else is up for debate.

By fiscally conservative I mean operating a budget that remains in surplus, however I am:

- Pro abortion
- Pro gay marriage
- Pro greener options
- Pro universal health care

etc etc, all those "social issues", generally I am on the liberal side.

You might ask how that's possible, and I am personally for higher taxes to pay for the above. I'm Australian, and all of the above is currently operating. Currently I earn $85,000AUD before tax per year and pay $24,892AUD in taxes per year.

Classical/European liberal, American Libertarian. Much more concerned with authoritarianism and very disillusioned with many self-described capitalists who actually just want corporatism. I only want government intervention to help those worst off (something like a negative income tax). I certainly don't want things like regulatory capture, IP laws, or anything else designed to create artificial scarcity and distort markets in favor of corporations.

In my experience, "fiscally conservative and socially liberal" is just an anarcho-capitalist in denial.

Outside of the person above who mentioned paying higher taxes and having a budget surplus

What that tends to mean is "x marginalized group should get help, but we should cut all funding to programs that help them because NIMBY/Fuck them I got mine/whatever myopic reason they have"

Personal liberty is a huge deal to me, but I don't identify with libertarians in any real way except that point.

I pretty much hate government as a concept, however also acknowledge that it's a necessary thing in a major society.

I subscribe to the anthropological belief that humans are best in smaller communities the way Amazon tribes still are today. Everyone comes together to help everyone.

I find that if we're going into the weeds of my philosophy towards life and politics then "social libertarian" would be an apt description, I suppose.

A political doctrine that promotes decentralized collectivism as a means of maximizing individual freedom and minimizing the power of the state and of concentrated private wealth.

While I abhor the privatization of resources and utilities and concentration of wealth I tend to regard large government entities with suspicion.

However if we look at the politicians I've voted for and the sort of folks I support in reality, I typically feel that "social democrat" or the more vague and catch-all term "leftist" apply to me rather well.
