Who the fuck would eat something that someone BEGRUDGINGLY made for them?

I think it is safe to say the "customer" had no intention to eat or buy anything from the bakery. They wanted to start shit for facebook likes and probably a cash payout.

The occasion, Scardina told the bakerys employees, was to celebrate her birthday, as well as the seventh anniversary of the day she had come out as transgender.

Masterpiece Cakeshop ultimately refused Scardinas order on religious grounds.

Phillips declined to create the cake with the blue-and-pink design because it would have celebrated messages contrary to his religious belief that sex the status of being male or female is given by God, is biologically determined, is not determined by perceptions or feelings, and cannot be chosen or changed, the complaint stated.

If she just left it at birthday, cake would've been made.

Also, I'd love to find out if this person had a cake for the other anniversaries.

This is defintely a gray area
As obviously was done to provoke another case

Except he still would have served her even though shes transgender. Why did he change his mind only after learning who she was?

If it was fine before she said she was transgendered, why is it not fine after he learned she was transgendered.

Thats called discrimination.

Its freedom of religion. Lets be honest she never wanted a cake.

Funny, I support a lot of conservatives when they aren't actively harming other people.

What conservative ideals do you support? To me, it seems like the left want to assume the right has the worst possible intentions with everything at all times.

Want stronger border control? racist
Want Israel to exist? islamaphobic
Dont want to pay for abortions? misogynist
Dont think the government should force people to work for others? homophobic
Dont like increased taxes? somehow racist
Dont support pseudo socialism? all of the above

Apparently supporting free speech and gun rights is a conglomeration of everything bad nowadays for some reason.

What conservative ideals(aside from the like 90% of stuff they agree with liberals on), in your opinion, is an ideal that you support?

You say that but you're really not treating the Christian in this case fairly. You want the people that agree with your politics to be treated fairly. The conservatives are pretty much doing the same thing.

Seems like they went to this guy on purpose to try to start shit again.

They did:
She asked for the cake on the same day the U.S. Supreme Court announced it would consider Phillips' appeal of the previous commission ruling against him.

And I was wondering why she went to him knowing his bakery just went through a huge battle against making a cake for the wedding of a gay couple. Holy cow, some people are really spiteful.

Maybe if he stopped discriminating, he wouldn't get sued for illegal discrimination.

He is clearly breaking the law. If he doesn't bake cakes with two women on top of it .. that is one thing. People can't say he has to make that. Just for them. However now the deal is a cake that is just two different colors. This is something that he seemingly makes. Thus he should be making for the people .

Because we have a case where one food provider denied service to people you like and the political left treated him like a pariah and another one where a food provider denied service to people you dont like and the political left treated him like hero.

It's the exact same action but your response is dependent on the on the political leanings of the involved parties. You're not looking at this objectively. The left likes to assign heinous intent to every action of every person who disagrees with them on a political issue. The political right has its flaws as well, but I don't see this as one of them and at the least it's not as widespread as it is in the left.

The cake bigot will do his thing.

If people want to teach him a lesson, break him with pressure. Have black people ask for happy Kwanzaa cakes. Happy wakanda day cakes with the face of tchallah. Happy eid mubarak cakes. A cake with a sombrero drawing saying happy 5 de Mayo, a cake saying happy Mexican Independence Day Pedro, etc . Happy visa day, Vishnu cakes, you name it.

Make this guys bakery the official intermarriage cake shop, where cakes that say happy marriage are requested and the picture of a black man and a white woman are to be inserted on the cake.

At some point he will start refusing to sell cakes to interracial couples, or minorities or foreign holiday cakes, and it will be beautiful. He will win all the court cases maybe simply because were in the MAGA era, but he will be sunk in so many lawsuits he will live pissed off lol

Minor nitpick: For it to be considered discrimination, avoid worded cakes. They could easily say "I wouldn't write that for anyone", and win the case. It's when they refuse a cake they WOULD make for someone else that they are discriminating.

The problem ins when the political left pushes to basically define everyone that supports their politics as a protected class and everyone who opposes their politics as evil racist homophobic sexist bigots.

It's not a straightforward issue like you suggest. The left is using so called protected classes as a shield to force their agenda on everybody. There is not a single major issue the right supports where the left doesn't falsely assign some sort of anti protected class agenda to it.

Bullshit part is I bet this troll of a lawyer was transitioned years ago.

I mean it probably was a setup.

Setup to get SCOTUS to rule on discrimination though, considering it appears that the first ruling had nothing to do with whether or not the baker can refuse service to gays or not.

isnt this the one who refused to make a custom cake but offered the ones he had on sale ?

yes. that wasn't pertinent in the supreme court ruling but that was a fact of the case. i'm of the opinion that a bakery needs to be willing to sell the stuff on its shelves to whoever walks through the door but shouldn't be required to make a special creation. i hope they win this case with a straight forward answer from the supreme court.

I bring up something else to show you why he's being treated unfairly. Its not a deflection. Believe it or not, not everything said in opposition to your viewpoint is some attempt to undermine you. He's not being treated fairly because other people have done the same thing and faced no legal action and are treated like a hero by the same people who want to bury this guy.

Based on your signature. You seem to want to engage in political discussion over LGBT issues and I suspect that quote is in your signature because you think what the guy said was dumb and you want to show it off. That is your bias, you're not going to look at something objectively when the one of the parties involved is LBGT.

We have freedom of religion laws too. It's not fair to religious people to say you have to sacrifice your morality if you want to own a business because some other people dont want their feelings hurt. But if you discriminate against someone we haven't arbitrarily assigned some value to, that's okay though.

You say that but you're really not treating the Christian in this case fairly

Yes we are. We're treating him like any other business owner - expecting the same service he would provide anyone else and responding to his illegal discrimination with the appropriate legal action.

Unfortunately, he isn't interested in treating his customers fairly.

Same could be said for the owners of the restaurant that denied service to Sarah Sanders, yet they're treated like heroes by the left.

What does that have to do with the fact that this baker was treated fairly, despite your claims to the contrary?

Because we have a case where one food provider denied service to people you like and the political left treated him like a pariah and another one where a food provider denied service to people you dont like and the political left treated him like hero.

It's the exact same action but your response is dependent on the on the political leanings of the involved parties. You're not looking at this objectively. The left likes to assign heinous intent to every action of every person who disagrees with them on a political issue. The political right has its flaws as well, but I don't see this as one of them and at the least it's not as widespread as it is in the left.

Political party isnt a protected clsss.

Politics is not a protected class.

You can choose to believe in something, but not what your skin colour, gender, sexuality etc is.

Its like protected classes are things that people used to discriminate against all the time. Race, sex, etc.

Its like youre trying to forget all of history

The Supreme Court ruled in June that the Colorado commission showed anti-religious bias when it sanctioned Phillips for refusing to make the cake, voting 7-2 that it violated Phillips' First Amendment rights.

Seems like this was already resolved. But let's do it all over again because there isn't anything more important going on in the world.

This was not resolved already. You misunderstand the ruling and the scope of its impact. If only you had read literally the very next paragraph after the one you quoted...

Seems like they went to this guy on purpose to try to start shit again.

They did:
She asked for the cake on the same day the U.S. Supreme Court announced it would consider Phillips' appeal of the previous commission ruling against him.

Shameful

All that says is that the state fucked up their case. That doesnt say whether or not he himself was in the wrong. Because they didnt make that kind of ruling.

Wait. I thought the SCOTUS only ruled that they violated his right to a fair and neutral hearing as members of the commission openly displayed bigotry and hostility to religion. Whether or not his 1st Amendment rights take priority over Colorado's civil rights law in regards to custom orders has yet to be answered.

First it was gay cake, and now it's transexual cake. What's next? Here's an idea.

DONT GO TO BAKERIES AND TRY TO START LAWSUITS. ASKING FOR EXPLICIT CAKE IS BOUND TO GET TURNED DOWN.
