I've actually been working very hard lately though

Context: Last Friday my boss tried to give me a written reprimand (my second, after my first verbal reprimand) for low productivity. I immediately protested and told him I had people and paperwork that can back up that I have been going above and beyond. I ask him if he came to this conclusion alone or if him and my manager agreed together, he said the latter, I asked if we could all three meet up to discuss what I am doing wrong and how I can correct my performance so I can become a better employee for them. He says we can meet Wednesday, today.

Okay so I leave work at 5:00PM, 4:15PM rolls by, my manager is heading out the door, other employees have been getting Christmas bonuses personally from my boss. He never called me in for my performance review, nor my Christmas bonus. I go into his office and ask him why he never gave me a review. He said he was too busy and couldn't find the time, and that we can do it tomorrow. I tell him that I have been anxious about this meeting because I legitimately care about being a good employee and he says he recognizes that, and that he has no intention of firing me.

He makes no mention of the bonus, I make no mention of the bonus because I want to make it clear that I care more about the reprimand. So I just work until the end of the my day and leave with no real answers.

I mean I can't even fucking get him to negatively reprimand me. I don't know if it's because he wants to retract it by just ignoring it until it goes away, or if he doesn't even give enough of a shit about me as an employee. He says he does care about keeping me employed, but my self esteem has just been thoroughly battered by being ignored for almost three years now. It is fucking mind blowing, I can't get him to give me a positive performance review, I can't even get him to give me a negative reprimand, I just show up to work, look busy for 8 hours and go home. This is giving me so much God damn anxiety.

It's either an unintentional oversight or a completely intentional screw job. Either way, you are clearly unhappy there. Put your resume out, what do you have to lose? For the time being, go through the motions, and keep your plans to leave secret.

Yeah. A friend had a similar situation. Wanted to talk to him about a particular issue but kept dragging it out as after every meeting legal / hr were consulted. Then they got pissy when he wanted his own representation to be present (probably cause it would mean theyd have to get hr / legal in the meetings as well.

So I'll complete work incredibly fast, but then I'll dick around and be on my phone and get chewed out for it.

If I could work from home or work my own hours it would be great, but I'm expected to be in the office nine hours a day no matter what my workload is.

For $800.

I make $70K.

My first year I received $1500, I didn't even work a full year

My second year I received $4500

This year, even though I've worked harder than ever before, and company revenue is literally 5x what it is in a typical year, I receive $800.

This is a fucking slap in the face.

I am speechless and numb.

Yup.

Actually just did the math and it was $700, not $800.

That's 1% of my salary.

My boss one time gave the blue collar workers a raise of $0.25 an hour once so this isn't atypical behavior by any means.

Try and get fired for something related to performance or being a bad fit. You can show your records of your performance and a bad fit isnt a valid reason to fire someone after 3 years. Do that and collect unemployment until you find something that pays $70k again.

sounds like you got caught screwing around by completing your work too quickly to me, or since you rush your work you don't do a very good job

I do a good job, but I happen to make mistakes in my work that is accurate. But they are primarily attributable to the fact that I am still weak in the industry of my job. I have asked for guidance several times and have never received any. I filled out a self evaluation form pleading for assistance to my boss and he completely disregarded it.

dude, you've made countless topics describing:

- how much you hate your coworkers

- how much you hate your coworkers' spending habits (e.g. how much they spend on lunch everyday)

- how much you dick around at work (you mention it in this very topic)

- how often you make excuses for coming in late and/or leaving early

terrible advice, having been fired will be terrible for job hunting.

really what you want to be doing in tc's situation is to kick it into high gear to avoid getting on a PIP, and then spend every single day at home applying for jobs like a madman. then quit once you get an offer or honestly have a few solid leads because post-burnout survival mode productivity isnt long term sustainable. i dont think hes going to salvage his job at the current company at this point so the focus should be on the next job. can probably get a higher salary too somewhere else
