Yukari confronts Mitsuru during a meeting about the explosion near the school ten years ago... But like, wouldn't everyone here already know about it? Frank is a transfer student, so maybe not, but I'd think an explosion with a bunch of deaths would still be remembered.

Mitsuru reveals that her grandfather was the leader of the Kirijo Group, and we get another anime cutscene to explain that he wanted to use shadows to do "something extraordinary," failed, and it created Tartarus.

Stopped for the moment in Tartarus, I was surprised that I had the opportunity before the Mitsuru dad thing. So many unfinished Elizabeth requests it's crazy.

Still not sure where Chihiro and Fuuka went those days at school, but I guess it doesn't matter for now.

Social Links?

I've never seen a nighttime social link so far.

There's only 2 in the entire game, but both require you to progress in a different link first.

Devil: Raise the Hermit (MMORPG) link a bit and they should mention a guy at the mall.
Tower: Raise Yuko's link a bit (I think Rank 4) then next time you talk to her she'll mention someone at a bar.

Ah, it might not be available yet. It's ultimately going to wind up at the dorm from talking to someone. Couldn't iron down for sure the first available day, but looking at some guides let's say "around 8/9" I think.

If they've vanished from their usual spots, it might be because school links become unavailable the week before exams. It's a thing apparently.

P3's nebulous themes are what make it by far the best story through the end. It stays mysterious and leaves things up to your own interpretation.

P5's villains are cool but they are so clear cut that they HAVE to compete each other. And unfortunately Kamoshida was the best one, so the story couldn't ever really reach that height again.

MMORPG is indeed very good. I feel like overall P3's Social Links are a bit better than P4's but that might be my bias talking.

We go to Mitsuru's home, and learn that she's super wealthy (which we already knew), has a weird-looking dad who definitely won't be important later, and apparently employs several French maids. Can you imagine an actual maid, whose job is legitimately to clean things, wearing one of those? I can't. Anyway, Junpei does everything in his power to act creepy at the beach to the only girls he knows. Currently I'm at Ryuji > Junpei.

Didn't realize Mitsuru's dad has an eye patch. Gives surprisingly decent advice about working with friends to her. He finally tells us that his father was using shadows to create a time manipulation device, and plays a recording of the accident. There we learn that Yukari's father was a scientist working on the device and died in the explosion, and not the dorm guy. Dammit, I am 0/3 on predicting Persona plot twists. Still, I'd be surprised if he's really dead.

Yukari and Frank run out to the beach.
"I'm a horrible person, aren't I?"
You're not horrible, but you are kind of mean. And I'm not talking about moodiness after learning how your father died, that's fine. I'm talking about all the stuff from earlier.

Also, Frank has gotten the feeling of being watched several times now. But by whooooooooom?

I enjoy Akihiko failing to hit on girls. It's nice to see him act out of character. I like these kinds of things, there weren't as many of them in P5.

I knew the girl who responds positively to Junpei would be a transvestite. P5 did almost the exact same joke. I wonder how this scene would play if it was written in the West.

At the beach, we see a girl. She was in an anime cutscene, has a unique model, blond hair, weird-looking fantastic eyes, and she's in the opening cutscene that plays if you don't press start when you load the game. She's probably not important. Also, how you play three-person rock paper scissors? I'm not an expert on the game, but I'd think that wouldn't work.

Eventually, the others and Ikutsuki show up, and we learn that Aigis is a robot girl (though you'd be insane if you didn't guess that the second she opens her mouth) designed to destroy shadows. I'm surprised to learn that robots can summon personas, that's a neat concept. We also learn that she reactivated herself this morning even though Frank thought someone was watching him the previous night. A mistake, or foreshadowing?

So how do Operation Babe Hunt and this scene play if you're the girl protagonist?

Aw yeah beach trip is one of my favorite parts of Persona 3.

Also I really like Aigis, though admittedly she's grown on me over multiple playthroughs and also it's not really for her stuff in this segment.

I forget exactly what they talk about, but IIRC, it ends up with them being contacted by Ikutsuki that the "anti-shadow weapon" is loose and them running into Aigis up where the guys follow her to after she runs away. Aigis reacts much the same to her as she does the male protagonist with hugging her and calling her the one, etc.

The Lovers confidant is indeed also a girl in P4. Yukari and the P4 one are among the best characters in the games IMO.

Unpopular(?) Aigis opinion: She's pretty good in the Journey and I like her arc, she actually gets worse in The Answer.

The rule changes, so that whoever puts out the sole different hand loses.
So if it's paper-paper-scissors, the one who played scissors lose.
If it's tie (paper-rock-scissors or paper-paper-paper), just redo it.

Another full moon, and we get confronted in an underground facility by Jesus and smart guy. I like how even Yukari calls their reasoning for trying to stop us stupid. They then very slowly close a set of doors to trap us, and no one makes any attempt to stop them.
