So.... Goblin Slayer eh?

It feels so gratuitous but I like the concept of what they're doing and the character designs and the down-to-earth combat style of the Slayer.

But I don't think I can continue watching if every episodes is... that graphic. Like, I don't normally mind some hard stuff, but have it be for a purpose. Berserk is pretty tough at times too, but it feels like it goes to 11 only when things really have to hit that point for the world. This started at a fucking 11.

The rape should get toned down as it goes on. I've only read the manga, and heard that the beginning was more explicit with that part compared to the WN/LN.

Yeah I've said it before and many times after, but it starts at an 11 and the rest is more or less a 6 with almost entirely Goblin Slayer on goblin violence.

Goblin Slayer is insanely capable. He's been doing the same shit for 5 years, so these goblins don't even stand a chance. And the priestess girl is more or less the audience's lens, watching a pro do his work. Threat level goes up way later down the line, but even then nobody gets raped. Hurt maybe, but nothing extreme.

I think that's one misgiving I have about the series, that the author sorta wrote himself into a corner by making the Goblin Slayer TOO capable. But if you want a more nitty gritty thing, Goblin Slayer Zero is the way to go. As the title implies, it's him before he became the pro that he is today. Lots of more spread out deaths there because it doesn't just focus Gob Slayer but other people who become like Gob Slayer

I finished Steins Gate Zero. I can see why some people didnt like it as much as the original, but damn if it still wasn't a fantastic season.

So as of today, I'm now two episodes away from finishing Aokana, which has been surprisingly fun up to this point. I'm also two-thirds of the way to finishing Revolutionary Girl Utena, which has also been very enjoyable. This means that it's time for me to think about which shows I'm going to watch next. I have some candidates lined up and I'm open to other suggestions, but keep in mind that no matter which show I pick, I will be watching the English dub.

Cromartie High. The Eng dub is brilliant.

I don't remember if you've watched them alrady, but check out either of the Kino's Journey series.
The 2017 series' English dub is good, but 2003 isn't too bad either. The 2003 series' OVAs aren't dubbed though.

@Calwings So I don't remember who told me this(if it was spidey or cart), but apparently Release the Spyce! is by the creator of Akame ga Kill!(which I'm sure you remember us telling you in no uncertain terms how bad that show would be for you). I wonder if the manga/anime will get really bloody/violent for that as well.

I have my personal reason for watching these dubbed, so even if the subbed version is superior or the dub voices are mediocre, I don't care at this point.

I watched the simuldub of the 2017 version last year, and I thought it was solid but not particularly great. Gave it a 7/10.

Honestly the first Precure wasn't much to write home about in comparison to the rest of the series, I'd personally recommend Ojamajo Doremi over it.

Regardless of where the original Futari Wa series ranks in the Precure franchise (I've mostly heard it called mid-high tier, but not among the best), I do plan on watching as many of the Precure series as I can eventually. The thing is, Futari Wa is the only one where a full season was dubbed and (unlike the dubs of Smile and Doki Doki) no episodes or actual content were cut out in the process. So therefore, in this situation right now where I can only binge-watch dubbed shows, it's the only Precure series I'll watch.

As for your other point, I'm into Precure mostly for the fight scenes. Though I've heard other good things about Doremi, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have what I'm after.

Besides two painful exceptions (Panty & Stocking, Darling In The Franxx) I'm pretty sure I've enjoyed every Gainax/Trigger show I've ever watched. Since LWA looks a lot more lighthearted and comedic (similar to Space Patrol Luluco) I think I'd really like it if they did a good job on it. Based on what I've heard you and others say, it seems like they did.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll go with Cromartie next, then after that either LWA, Baka & Test, or Precure.

Baka to Test really finds its stride in the 2nd season imo. A lot of character developments and drama compared to the other season where the writing really starts to shine. Shows just how diverse of a writer the author is, since he also wrote Grand Blue which is nothing like Baka to Test even in its humor. They're both funny in a similar aura but in an entirely different manner.

But you find a lot of shining qualities in a lot of characters. Akihisa becomes more gallant to the point where the two girls mysteriously pining for him end up making a lot of sense in the end. Hideyoshi is really the only one of the main crew who doesn't change much, but all the jokes around him is kept at a full 10 throughout the series. The flat chest girl pretty much cements herself as the best girl despite not being the main girl. The crazy couple with the smart black haired kuudere/yandere and the orange spiked hair guy gets an amazingly well crafted back story episode that really opens a complex dimension to their relationship.

But yeah big fan of the series, and the 2nd season is a necessity to really like the series because that's where all the SHAFT-ian experimental emotional episodes are.

you mean the MAL synopsis? it's technically accurate but a bit misleading, I think the core of the show is relationship drama. Which admittedly I think is done well and has a pretty big variety of relationships but I was kinda caught offguard from what I expected the show to actually be

Hmm, I'd say Merry is more of a style over substance show. Everything looks weird and/or cool, but not really special in the story department. I liked its theme songs, too.

As for Gunslinger Girl, it's pretty legit with its drama and soundtrack. The guns are done well too, from what I remember. Pacing is fairly slow though, in case you're expecting an action show.

And Little Witch Academia, I don't really have much to say. It's a lighthearted show with good visuals and soundtrack.

Mai-HiME and Princess Tutu, I don't remember enough to give any opinions, really.

Saw ep 1 of goblin slayer, i pretty much regret my decision entirely based on that one scene, but i'm still curious on how this will go on... probably will give it 2 more eps.
