A collection of that size and stature should have been insured or covered under the home owners insurance.

If not that's just stupidity on his part.

I honestly wouldn't doubt it

I remember there was a video back in the day of a guy dropping an Xbox, PS2, and a Gamecube from a high distance to see if any of them would still work.

The Xbox and PS2 didn't work at all, but the GC started up the game without skipping a beat.

Dude then started doing other thing like hitting it with a hammer and what not and it STILL worked.

It wasn't until he took even more extreme measures before the GC stopped working.

For expensive items or collections above and beyond what most people would have, you tell your insurance company about them and what their value is and they'll add it as a rider to your policy.

collectables, jewelry, and similar things require an additional policy and you have to provide proof that....

1) you actually own them

and 2) that they're insured for the value that they're appraised at (might require someone to actually inspect it if you're trying to insure something like a Picasso painting).

Although I've seen that video before, it's actually not the one I was referring to. The one I mentioned was a random guy and I remember that he started up Mario Sunshine during his test and was super surprised. I'll see if I can find the one I was referring to, although that video has got to be like 15+ years old at this point.

Cart prices have skyrocketed in the last 3 or so years, mainly because the people who grew up with them now have the disposable income to collect them.

Games and collections have to be specified to a certain amount and you need proof of ownership.

Stops people losing their copy of Superman 64 and claiming their NES World Championships 1992 cartridge was stolen instead.

And even if that was insured, that'd be a lot of fucking work to replace 2000 games.

Holy shit I would be so pissed. I dont have 30 systems(Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, PS1-4, Dreamcast, GameCube, Wii, Xbox-Xbone, plus handhelds) I easily have 2000 games and I did have a house fire a little over a year and a half ago. I lost a bunch of stuff, couches/chairs, clothes, my office PC. The important stuff like my two girls, 3 dogs and family photos all survived. Took awhile but my house is brand new and way better than before. Not 3 weeks before the fire I said to my wife I wish I had the money to redo the whole house. I had just put in a bathroom upstairs.

Let me say this, my PS4 spent over 24 hours under soaking wet insulation/drywall/whathaveyou and not only did it start right up, it still works like a charm. Cant say the same about my Xbone or Wii.

All my other systems are in the garage which went unharmed. I also have a massive Star Wars collection of 3.75 figures that went relatively unharmed. Some got a little wet but I dont keep them in the package, I let my kids/little bro play with them all the time. Just dont break anything lol.
