I'm hyped when you play because you bring hype into the game, and I just love hype itself. Which is why I was so quick to load you up with the triple vote when we were both Town, because it was fun!

That's an interesting tidbit about the Lawyer. I'm glad that game happened, because the "Scum lawyer is not possible" law was something I got from B8 too. I hear it stated as fact in every game with a lawyer, so regardless of what I thought of FD, I thought that Town would actually become suspicious of me or just call me an idiot if I didn't label FD as confirmed town. So I just.....did that. Prevented myself from even thinking about FD or his role.

Yeaahhhh, okay maybe I shouldn't do mercenaries XD I dont even know the rules. I was under the impression you had to argue why your team of characters would beat the other team? I LOVE debating, and I know every character I've ever seen in Mercs. But if it's a timesink then I wont join, because my life is only getting busier from here

But it's hilarious. And maybe you all aren't all that similar but your beginnings in the community are probably perceived the same by the community at large. Though I don't recall you ever being modkilled for breaking rules or being a prick so I'll give you that

Not really. You can balance it either way. It's just more fun to be able to viably claim more roles, when everyone already has a lot of experience with the standards.

What's stupid is all the board games have had these nonsense invented roles and variations which are impossible to reason about and not fun for either town or mafia.

For the record, your assessment of Puns' game and mine isn't actually nearly as different as you seem to think. I see it as a game where I played decently but never really had to be more than decent because outside of day 1 when you were alive there was no one to really threaten me so I ended up being my own worst enemy by posting too much to be plausibly left alive in endgame (but no regrets on that because going idle would have been boring as hell). Only thing I disagree with you on is the part about killing you twice really meaning much. It meant you were the biggest obstacle I had by far, sure (though that was already obvious) and that you had the game solved to the point that if you lived you would have been able to win, but it also meant you got to have a voice as confirmed town on day 2 despite having been killed and I did enough to not get you to seriously pursue me, so it ends up being a wash.

The other game you're bringing up is Blade Mafia. You struggle to remember the flavour because there wasn't really any with how that game ended up being <_< I actually don't think I was *that* frustrated with myself after that game, I was annoyed at making the wrong call in the end (that's just part of my personality and why I don't think mafia is for me, I don't care about fucking up solo but I hate doing it in a team game, so unless I just roll serial killer every game I'm setting myself up for disappointment) but the fact that it boiled down to being wrong about a guy who literally wasn't even playing because he tried to replace out and only found out like two weeks later he was still on the player list meant it was kind of impossible to be too concerned about, given how weird a situation that was. I was a hell of a lot more annoyed after Phoenix Wright mafia and your game.

Also as for migraines I was going off my father's experience with them. He gets them pretty bad fairly regularly and if he doesn't take a pill for it within a few minutes of symptoms beginning, he pretty much needs to stay in a dark and quiet place for a few hours to not be in agony. So I guess I tend to assume something similar applies universally

More evidence that "Most Valuable Player" isn't really a great term for it in mafia. Playing the best and making the best decisions and being in a position to win "if you didn't die" doesn't equate to "value". I mean we could still name MVPs but that should be more quantifiable than whatever you want to call the "best player" award.

I mean, part of the problem with the entire concept of a mafia MVP is that the game is heavily based on how others respond to you. If you're right and don't persuade anyone, how valuable were you? You weren't devoid of value since you were right, but you didn't accomplish anything with it so you weren't perfect. Your ability to get things done in mafia is dependent on others listening to you, and it's pretty much impossible to clearly determine how much of the blame or praise lies with the person who was or wasn't persuaded and how much lies with the person who did or didn't get the persuading done. Being right is only part of the game for town and not necessarily the biggest part, which means the thing that can be judged most objectively isn't exactly a definitive way to decide how well someone played.

Yeah the game is highly subjective in many ways. Say Billy Bob is town and cites the entire scum team day one and is active and helps bickering town recognize they're wrong about each other. After Billy Bob dies, nobody looks back at what he said, and they mislynch three times in a row. Now say Jimmy votes for town every day and people hate him, but on day 5 he reveals 4 guilty cop scans and town just lynches them all and wins. Jimmy is more valuable than Billy Bob. But Billy Bob might be most outstanding, or whatever. People may not agree with that take, but it's kind of just a matter of semantics anyway, I think.

I'll just do the critique myself.

I'm slow to commit to my words, which weakens their power. Given I effectively never directly contradict myself (because I remember all my actions during any given game) it would give them quite a bit more punch if I followed through more often.

I am easy to distract/get out of the game for short periods of time, which people can use to buy time. I am also extremely susceptible to having my play affected by real life feelings and events, though I've at least learned to recognize when there's a problem. I do hold grudges though.

I respond to feeling confusion (and sometimes surprise) with a defense mechanism anger and stubbornness that takes me some time to process through and can temporarily derail the game. (Honestly I'm still confused by that day 4. Even a month later it makes no sense to me.)

My focus casts on a net eventually and once that's happened it's hard for me to follow people who aren't in it. It was day 5 last game and I had effectively nothing to say about Death at all, as an example.

Don't have time to write more right now but I'm sure there's more.

I am nothing like corrik tbh. and yeah i was a pretty damn good player, but i did have a few meltdowns. i simply have a passion for the game that most don't share.

it's hard to deny that i had a few of the most memorable and clutch moments here back in the day, like me or hate me. especially as town and that huge game i won as SK lol

The only thing I have to say about Atma's play is that he made me have fun playing scum once.

i mean if i was a bit less intense and more friendly, i think i'd be considered one of the better players. but i r mean. i do make scum teams fun tho
