I'm 31. I posted in my teens. Went away for a while. Came back cause I sit at a cube all day and I got bored of perusing reddit and facebook between calls. Or I'll do that when I drink my morning coffee outside with my cats, or like right now while I'm waiting for my pork chops to grill on the foreman. I'm not making myself sound like any less of a loser, am I? However I do have a long time girlfriend who lives with me and is not a body pillow, so that's something.

I was 13 when I made my account. 26 now. I've nearly had this account as long as I was alive when I made it.

This site is vastly different now than it was 13 years ago. It was definitely a teenager focused community here back there. Most people now are in their late 20s or early 30s.

or life before The Simpsons

or life before computers/the internet became popular with Windows 95

I remember both of those things. I will be turning 40 next year. The 1979 is my username is my birthyear. I remember watching the very first episode of The Simpsons as it first aired on TV. I was 10 years old then.

I was in high school when Windows 95 came out and computers started getting popular. It's hard to imagine life without computers and the internet now, but I definitely remember it not being a thing when I was a kid.

Heck, I remember being 6 years old in 1985 and seeing Super Mario Bros for the very first time. That was awesome and one of my fondest earliest memories.

Remember PC gaming before Direct-X?
Creating boot discs to free up enough memory to start a game, which could still run out of memory if you were unlucky.
You didnt own one of the three supported soundcards? No sound for you, unless you were (un)lucky enough that the game supported the PC Speaker...
DRM that made you search for the correct page in the manual and finding the third word in the second sentence that you had to type in just to start the game.

I remember when PC graphics cards were optional. Games would run perfectly without them, but they looked a bit better if you did have a graphics card. I think Star Wars Rogue Squadron was the first PC game to require a graphics card.

I remember when 650 MB (MB not GB) was considered a lot of hard drive space. Fallout had a install of 650 MB that they called HUMONGOUS in all caps.

I remember some early graphics card making a big deal that it had TV Out, because a TVs natural AA was superior to any AA produced by a graphics card back then. I think it was around Quake.

I'm 64 and joined GFAQs in late 1995 at age 41 because my daughter and I were looking for a site like this when we'd get stuck in a game. It was the top listed in the search engine at the time on our newly installed Windows 95. I left for a while right after CNET bought it in 2003, because I just had no time working a full time job and running my own business. When I came back 4 years later my account had been purged so I had to open a new one to post. Since then most of the time I post in topics that have at least semi-intelligent conversation and just rarely post to aggravate the shitposters and people just outright posting false information, not that anyone here ever believes the truth lol.
