Ill be done with Megalo Box tomorrow. Not sure what Ill watch after it just yet, but maybe Comic Girls. I should probably look up when Cells At Work comes out since I might have an episode of that to watch soon too. For some reason I thought One Punch Man S2 was Fall, but I dont think it has a date yet

I finished Etotama today and, while it certainly had its flaws, the fact that is was super fun more than made up for them. The premise is basically that the animals from the Chinese zodiac are anime girls (because one of the laws of the universe is that everything in existence will be anthropomorphized into anime girls at some point) and it specifically follows the cat, Nya-tan, as she tries to beat them all up and get into the zodiac herself. I found the humor to be great, specifically the fact that they broke the fourth wall frequently and hilariously, but the dumb situations they often found themselves in were a lot of fun too. Even the boring main character dude had his moments. Nya-tan was the best part of the anime though. She was always so hyper and had a totally undeserved high opinion of herself (speaking as a cat owner, that makes her a typical cat), and while she was practically designed to be annoying I found Nya-tan to be the fun kind of annoying. The battles were all in a chibi 3D style too, which I found an odd choice at first but that animation style actually allowed a lot of impressive moments so I guess it worked out.

Anyway, there's my post for an anime probably no one here has seen or cares about. Etotama was fun.

Caught up on the last 5 months of Ippo

Kumi turning into mega bitch after she had ippo all to herself towards anything boxing related she is the True Villain of the series

Still kind of depressing to see him like this even after becoming a second for the rest of the gym, but I wonder if him seeing miyata in such terrible condition after losing his reason to box will motivate him to come back

not only that, the anime made the light novel #1 for a while. the first book ended #4 overall for 2017, first volume of the manga was #18. that's probably why we've gotten them translated so fast, vol 3 is out in a few days and i'm hyped. the anime gets partially through it so we're reaching into new content.

Megalo Box finally finished. It was pretty good though I wish it showed more of some fights. Some felt cut short so that sorta sucked and Joe vs Yuri didnt go as all out as I hoped I would. Kinda wish we got to see more of Joe in general too. I was expecting a backstory or something for him, but there never was one really. Anyways it was a pretty fun ride with only some minor complaints.

I finished watching through Re:ZERO this weekend and I really enjoyed it. It easily surpassed Overlord to become my favorite isekai, but a lot of that was because I inherently like time-restarting as a concept so it had an unfair advantage with me. I thought all of the arcs were exciting and I really enjoyed the character development of everyone. I only have one complaint, really, which I'll keep that to the spoiler tags below.

I glanced at Crunchyroll comments while watching and saw a lot of people disliking Subaru's whining, but I dunno, I thought it was deserved. The poor guy kept dying horrifically and couldn't even tell anyone about it without shadow hands squeezing his heart. I liked the dynamic between him and Emilia too, even if the extent of how quickly and how deeply he loved her felt a bit much sometimes. She really wanted to believe in him but he was acting so crazy. I couldn't blame her for sending him away in the third arc. Plus they had a nice resolution where Subaru has grown a lot and Emilia seems ready to accept him at her side. I also have to give a shout-out to how awesome time-restarting is as a premise and Re:ZERO handled it well. They weren't treated as easy so he couldn't just brute-force his way through, and most of the improvements he made in subsequent runs felt earned.

My only real problem with the anime was with the other candidates to the throne, they were all such lame caricatures. "I'll rule the kingdom because I want to own everything!" *crowd nods along* "I'll rule the kingdom because it will amuse me!" *crowd nods along* "I want to rule the kingdom and bring equality to everyone" *crowd glares because it isn't sure it can trust the half-elf*. It all felt so forced. Everyone else in the narrative felt like a nuanced character and here are these three jokers laughing about a village that's going to be slaughtered. It would've been so easy to write them as unable to help for pragmatic reasons without making them all full-on heartless. Still, they were a minor part of the narrative overall so I guess it wasn't as bad as it could've been.

Final thought: Rem was great but I still can't help but wonder why she's the super popular one when Emilia was the best girl by a long shot.

Though having rewatched the first half from the bluray release, Emila is also excellent and I think most people just for caught up in how much more Rem gets in the second half.

Subaru gets way to bad a wrap for being realistically fucked up by his situation rather than being a badass Kirito god.

The other candidates get a lot more later in the light novels, I think. Where the show ended means we don't get a ton from those other than Crusch.

Subaru gets a ton of hate for being a a wimp, but I think that's one of the better parts of his character. It is really nice seeing a protag in this genre be a wimp. It feels more real. I still personally don't like his character, but I can appreciate what they did with him.

I don't consider him a wimp at all though. Considering the situation I think he still handles it better than just about anyone realistically would at that age.

Emilia's way cooler than Rem. People just like Rem because of how devoted she is to Subaru, and because she's a maid. All the otakus dream of having a girl who doesn't care about anything other than them.

It's a real shame she gets so much pointless waifu war hate because her design and character is fantastic. It doesn't help that most of the hate she gets is actually misassigned Subaru hate!

I never thought Id be anti P5 before it came out. The cast left a lot to be desired after the amazing cast P4 had. It would be one thing if they were slightly worse, but theyre significantly worse than even the 3 cast
