Uber drivers are not employees (officially), so they cannot be fired. Uber could refuse to send them any more business through the app, but then it's starting to look a lot like an employer-employee relationship if they are policing this kind of thing - and Uber's foremost priority is to maintain their stance that their drivers are not employees.

Kim Davis can't be fired because she's an elected official. She can only be removed by losing an election or through impeachment.

I kinda feel Uber doesn't really know what they're doing with a lot of this stuff. Or, at least the old leadership didn't. They literally responded to California not letting them test their self-driving cars on public roads because they weren't safe by first saying they were going to do it anyway, and then announcing they were moving their self-driving cars to Arizona and testing there. No concern at all about addressing the safety concerns, apparently.

And it later came out that their self-driving cars had an error rate something like 5000x that of Google's.

That's the whole point.

Our political culture IS extreme. This not a cause; this is merely a symptom Trump Supporters by VERY large margins support even the terrible things he does.

Maybe if you were an uber driver you'd grin and bear it. Many probably do. But this guy didn't and was under no obligation to do so. He didn't get paid for the ride. He probably got a 0* rating which hurts him. If he's willing to accept those consequences he can do pretty much whatever he wants to within the confines of the law.

But this is an uber driver. Uber doesn't actually get to control his behavior beyond these measures unless they restructure their entire business model.

I feel there's a reasonable debate to be had that the amount of children who have disappeared under the current border policy (and being horribly realistic, we're going to find out later that those children disappeared into human trafficking) is animalistic, and if not on the level of latter day Nazi Germany, it's regardless a crime against humanity. Worthy of refusing service to any person wearing a symbol in support of the regime enabling it. Meanwhile there is no debate to be had with the whole sports analogy, it's just an effort to deflect into ridiculous territory. I'll happily dismiss that for the bullshit that it is.
