Another instance of Inga maybe low-key not being quite as evil as he seems is the fact that he gave Maya all sorts of amenities, even as he held her captive. Also, when you examine his room, you can find a drawer full of unapproved execution papers, some dating back as far as five years, so perhaps a part of him didn't actually like sentencing people to death that he thought were innocent.

I mean don't get me wrong the dude was still evil. The game just paints him as a bit more gray than straight up black.

Finished up with Maya's testimony, and we've crossed the 1000 line mark for trial day 2, and Apollo's passed the 2000 line mark for the case.

And we still have a ways to go. We're probably not even halfway done yet.

Judge: Is there any proof that Justice Minister Inga was channeled?
Apollo: You bet there is!
Maya: Really?!
Judge: Well, now!
Phoenix: ...You're bluffing, I take it?
Apollo: ......I'll be fine!

I love how nonchalantly Phoenix just throws that out there.

The best part of this gag is going to the Ace Attorney wikia and seeing this as the opening sentence.

Inga Karkhuul Haw'kohd Dis'nahm Bi'ahni Lawga Ormo Pohmpus Da'nit Ar'edi Iz Khura'in III, known simply as Inga Karkhuul Khura'in, was the Minister of Justice for the Kingdom of Khura'in.

I usually use grey to describe doing bad things for a good (if misguided) reason, like the villain of Watchmen, or Jack Bauer, or Thanos (if you want to go there). From what we can tell, Inga was doing bad things for bad reasons (unless he was only planning the coup because he thought Gar'an (Ga'ran?) was a tyrant and not for personal gain - but you need to read pretty far beyond the text for that one).

He has a soft heart, but I don't think that makes him "grey" morally. I see niceness and evilness kind of orthogonal to each other in this case.

Well, Rayfa believes he wanted the orb to help her get spiritual power so she could rule rather than trying to obtain it for himself. Of course, this is just Rayfa's rationalization, so she's not necessarily right.

I mean since Inga doesn't have spiritual powers, he would have needed to be regent through Rayfa whether he loved her or not. So I think she's definitely right about that. The question is whether he actually loved her or whether he just saw her as a tool.

That might not work because channeling a spirit is more than just spiritual power. Due to having prosopagnosia, Inga can't picture faces which is a necessary condition to be able to channel a spirit.

Although either way, we still don't know exactly what Inga was plotting with the Founder's Orb or his motives for doing so.

I just remember being somewhat in denial as I uncovered the additional testimony and started deciphering what exactly the whole thing really meant, and as I scrolled through the evidence, I just had the bloodstain up for a minute, and then yelled, "fuck" when it clicked for me.

I also love how when you point out where Dhurke's corpse is, the cursor is already on the sarcophagus. Granted, that's because it's in the center of the room, but why waste that time getting to the obvious conclusion from there?

I actually figured it out as soon as I found the notes with the physical descriptions of people in his room, mostly because of that game, although I'd heard of prosopagnosia even before that. I remember seeing a news story about a guy who had it once when I was growing up. I don't know that I would've initially believed it was even a real thing if not for that.

Yeah, she has a pretty big role on day 2. She has two Divination Seances and a normal testimony on top of that.

6-6 time

the fact that Larry references Phoenix's "career" as a pianist means they must have kept in touch to some degree during those seven years

I don't know what it is but I love Larry's animations when he's wearing the pink sunglasses and the fake mustache, and has the bubble pipe in his mouth.

I don't think one can just fall out of touch with Larry. He's like a scar from when you crashed your bike at age seven. He's completely harmless, but he's permanent and a reminder of the most painful memory of your childhood.

Phoenix mentions "the hotel next door" at one point, so I still wonder if the WAA is in the same place the old Wright & Co. Law Offices were.

Probably just a translation gaffe, because the office sure looks like same from the previous games.

I mean, we only ever see two rooms each of Wright & Co. and WAA, so who knows. The thing that throws me off is that the map they show in 4-2 doesn't make it seem like it's still beside the Gatewater.

6-6's pacing is interesting because it's more like the OT (well, at least JFA and T&T) than DD and SoJ. It's a fairly brisk cace by their standards (comparable to 3-2 and 3-3 in length), and it features the shortest single segment in either of those games (trial day 1). It's also the only case in SoJ that is two trial days for the same murder in the game. It makes sense since it's a throwback to the OT overall with Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth, and Larry all being together again.

People talk about Ellen's long animations, but at least she's got diversity. Sorin's paper airplane one is the worst.

I hate pretty much all the new characters in 6-6, solely for the animations.

"Time travelers do exist. You wouldn't understand though."

it's a great foreshadowing line for Sorin
