LinkPizza 07/13/18 1:32:33 AM #1:	Does your state require you to have insurance just to get a license? I guess Texas does. I had to get a new license since mine technically expired like 6 years ago. But because of the Air Force, I didn't have to get one. But because of my other job and my having to get a CDL, I renewed it and had to show I had insurance. Which I did. But then I started to pay attention to everyone else. And for even the kids trying to get a permit, they had to have insurance. When I got my license back in Maryland, I didn't have to have insurance just to get the license. It just seems weird. Mead 07/13/18 1:36:32 AM #3:	When I got my license I did not need insurance to get it However if you go the traditional route of taking a driving course at the DMV youll sometimes be responsible for providing the vehicle for the test and youll need to have insurance for that vehicle. And unless you have really shitty insurance, the policy on that car would cover anyone else driving it, such as a friend. The only way you would possibly get in trouble is if there was a regular driver of the car that you failed to list on the car (for example, if a husband and wife have a policy on a car but omit the husband as a driver because his bad driving history would cause the rates to go up). So no, you shouldnt be required to prove you have auto insurance on you, since thats not how it works.
