Saturdays are equally as bad but I basically sit around for 12-15 hours doing nothing.

I'm going to the movies with my family right now. Will go to the gym after. Maybe a haircut at my friends later and either spend time with a girl im dating or with my friends. I also got wolfenstein for the switch and have been meaning to learn how to play my acoustic guitar. Plenty of things to do. Honestly even if I at least go to the gym on a weekend day and do nothing the rest of the day, I won't feel like the day was wasted. Helps keep my anxiety/restlessness at bay.

You gotta get a hobby or something. I honestly can't remember the last time I was bored. Usually on Sundays I go hiking then out to dinner and ice cream with my girlfriend

That sounds like a blessing. For me, at least. Anyway, I usually play Shadowrun for about 6 hours. More or less depending on the story. I'll be starting in about 2 hours.

Couldn't you get another job, then? Or do something similar to work at home. Or, depending on your job, could you bring you work home with you?

Weekends are when I get my chores done. Chores such as grocery shopping, regular shopping, , cleaning my car, cleaning my apartment, laundry, cooking enough food to last me through the next workweek, etc.

Enjoying work is fine. In fact, it's an incredibly healthy attitude to have, and you're lucky if you can find a job you love.

Not having any interests or identity OUTSIDE of work, however, is a terrible mindset, and isn't healthy at all.

I can't even remember the last time I had an extended period of downtime where there was literally nothing to do. Even outside of social situations with friends, family, or significant others, we live in a world where there is more easily available entertainment media than at any other point in human history (and arguably, more than the entire rest of human history combined). If you're bored, watch a movie or TV show. Watch YouTube videos. Film and/or edit YouTube videos. Play a video game. Program/design a video game. Read a book. Write a book. Attend sporting events. Participate in sporting events. Go for nature walks. Raise animals. Work on arts and crafts projects. Volunteer to work for charities you support. Etc etc etc.

...read articles on the Internet. Write articles on the Internet. Write posts on shitty Internet message boards and social media sites. Stream tons of free porn and edge yourself for 14 hours. Learn tantric yoga...

In the modern world, "I'm bored" is an admission of absolute apathy or laziness more than it is anything else. Even the poorest of people have tons of options for things to do.

You're right. I would rather sit here and do nothing than do half of the things on your list. I am in fact sick of doing many of them, especially anything that has to do with video games, the media and the internet. I am just way too burned out / sick of any of that. It doesn't do anything for me anymore.

As a person I have nothing to say, and nothing to contribute, I do not want to learn anything either.

It is 100% unfiltered apathy. That is why I sit around and do nothing on the weekends.

Maybe depression? Losing interest in things and feeling apathetic is possibly even more common than being sad.

This.

People whose life revolves solely around their work do not fare well later in life when it comes time for them to retire. If you think a weekend is boring, then retirement is going to be hell because it's basically a permanent never-ending weekend.

People who have no hobbies and spend all their time working typically have more health problems once they reach retirement age, and they die much sooner than those people who do have hobbies. Basically if your work is your life, and then when you retire your life no longer has any meaning so you lose the will to live.

Hobbies are not a waste of time. They are vitally important for both your physical and mental health, especially in your elder years when you are no longer working.

Paperbacks ftw.
Let's discuss reading on a Sunday instead.
Paperback is just so portable, plus lines shelves well and are typically lower in price. I take them a lot of places.
