Also, I posted once on SSC about my oddball theory that boxing wasn't displaced by MMA, but rather by action movies (aka the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

I think that might also be affecting Pro Wrestling in a cinematic way.

If you want well choreographed fight scenes between powerful badasses within the context of dramatic storylines with continuity such that you get hooked on having to know what happens next... well... that IS what they're doing with major movie franchises these days, isn't it?

Just discovered something while reading up on title lengths and such. Styles' current reign is at 248 days; if he hangs on to the belt for 33 more (basically by SummerSlam), he'll pass JBL for longest reigning world champion in SmackDown history. While Batista had a world title reign on SD that clocks in at 282 days, he was still on Raw for 2.5 months during said reign

Only Roman spear I can remember liking was the one in that Survivor Series match where he actually did nearly kill Shane McMahon. Which may be one more spear than Edge has done but I think inconsistent is very generous.
